Silver, a corrupt and sinister sorcerer, rules the land of Jarrah with an iron fist. He and his henchmen have abducted the village women as part of a pact with the almighty god, Apocalypse. Now, only one man can put a stop to Silver and his minions. That man is you, David, a promising young knight whose wife is among the captured. In order to succeed you'll need to recruit allies, master your swordplay, learn the art of magic, and venture through hostile worlds teeming with Silver's corrupt followers to find 8 lost artifacts. Begin your quest, and become a hero!
Silver is the European answer to JRPGs, which were very popular at the time. With eye-candy in the form of pre-rendered 2D backgrounds, manga-inspired character design, and console-style gameplay, it introduced PC gamers to a new genre. This game is very unique on PC as there are only a few such titles on this platform, so if you feel like trying a different approach to role-playing, then this is a title for you!
Form your party from a cast of interesting and diverse characters, each with their own unique traits.
Gripping story and polished gameplay combine to make a “simple” RPG that’s still a lot of fun.
Unique combat system with real-time, fast-paced action--you assume direct control over one of the characters, and the rest of your team fights on their own.
Silver is really a lovely game with a solid story.
Graphics are very similar to Final Fantasy 7 but the combat gameplay is completely different. You control the hero completely with the mouse and also make the hits with mouse gestures.
The game has aged really well and I really enjoyed it.

This is by far my favorite game.
The gameplay is wonderful.
Between using your mouse swipes to attack with your melee weapons
and stringing different commands to your party members, this game
is a dance of real-time strategy. The sense of discovery I get when playing it,
to this day (I beat it probably 15 times since I was a child) is still present.
and the soundtrack is glorious.
of course it has its drawbacks too, like the pretty cheesy dialog,
mostly shallow character motivations and graphics that have not aged well.
but in my humble opinion, this game is a must have for RPG enthusiasts,
as well as everybody else. my kids will defiantly play this one day.
Great story and unique gameplay mechanics. Also very beautiful graphics, in its own way. Some are complainig about the difficulty but this was actually never an issue for me. I don't know how often I already played this gem and I would totally play it again! ;-)
I loved this game as a kid and it mostly holds up, but the Linux port isn't a good experience. Characters and enemies are often not rendered, which is very annoying. There's also no rain in Rain, which completely kills the atmosphere. The windows version seems to work fine on Wine, so I recommend using that one instead.
Silver is a title I appreciated a lot in the past and that now I have played again thanks to gog.com. It is a funny title not very challenging to complete. The first thing you can notice is the combat mode where the various attacks are controlled by the movement of the mouse. The backgrounds are various and well done and the soundtrack fits well with all the moments of the game. The weapons and spells are well characterized and the magic items are useful to complete the adventure. The skills of the characters that can be included in our party are different, giving the chance to use different styles of gameplay. Silver is a good game to spend hours of pure fun.
