Silver, a corrupt and sinister sorcerer, rules the land of Jarrah with an iron fist. He and his henchmen have abducted the village women as part of a pact with the almighty god, Apocalypse. Now, only one man can put a stop to Silver and his minions. That man is you, David, a promising young knight whose wife is among the captured. In order to succeed you'll need to recruit allies, master your swordplay, learn the art of magic, and venture through hostile worlds teeming with Silver's corrupt followers to find 8 lost artifacts. Begin your quest, and become a hero!
Silver is the European answer to JRPGs, which were very popular at the time. With eye-candy in the form of pre-rendered 2D backgrounds, manga-inspired character design, and console-style gameplay, it introduced PC gamers to a new genre. This game is very unique on PC as there are only a few such titles on this platform, so if you feel like trying a different approach to role-playing, then this is a title for you!
Form your party from a cast of interesting and diverse characters, each with their own unique traits.
Gripping story and polished gameplay combine to make a “simple” RPG that’s still a lot of fun.
Unique combat system with real-time, fast-paced action--you assume direct control over one of the characters, and the rest of your team fights on their own.
I remember buying this on a whim in some back alley PC hardware shop, not thinking it would be any good but I was bored and young.
This impulse buy turned out to be a game I got completely absorbed in. I remember trying to force my friends to play it.
A completely underrated and often missed game, in my opinion.
PLAY IT!
This game is simply fantastic, with incredible soudtrack and unusual (and awesome) gameplay, with a "epic story" topping. Voice overs are great and the combat is very immersive. I played this when I was six, couldn't pass the werewolf (the first combat in CD 2 if I recall) and I will definitely buy this game again. What to expect? A always-present storyline mixed with very challenging bosses and some nice puzzles.
At last,
I can't have enough playing this game. It has everything and now that it's compatible for the newest operating systems I can't ask for more.
I instantly bought this game without a second thought.
I wish infogrames/spiral house continued the project.
This will remain on my computer's hard disk forever.
Played this game during my primary school years. As I English wasn't my first language (Chinese was mine), this taught me some of the basics. Usually playing without the voice overs. It is definitely a game you should pick up.
From how the story unfolds, the combat, characters. In my opinion this was one of those games which could actually compete with Final Fantasy games. During the era.
Worth a pick up after all these year.
A year ago I've posted a little patch to play this game on modern Windows systems on GOG forums, and I got a lot of replies and support. It's easy to understand why, Silver is one of a kind. A very cool looking action JRPG, a genre very uncommon on PC. It features amazing gameplay, funny and witty dialogues, and a lot of lovable characters. Will you be able to stop Silver and his evil plans?
