Silent Hill 4: The Room

It's a classic, the GOG version is for sure, the best one to play. Good job everyone for reviving this wonderful game.

Only played SH2 before this. I would rate this game EXTREMELY high as a horror game. Only negatives are the visuals being poor enough that it's sometimes easy to miss vital items occasionally (watch your characters head move towards items for clues) and the controls and camera are frustrating. I.e. they don't enhance the hooror, they're sometimes just plain annoying. However, the story, themes and setting more than make up for this. Fantastic game.

I recommend everyone that is a fan of horror to give Silent Hill 1-4 a run through, Silent Hill along with Resident Evil took survival horror and made it what it is today. Although both series have had their fair share of flops as every game series does the original Silent Hills will and always have had a place in my heart and I think anyone that wants their mind put to the test and feel a sense of discomfort while trying to overcome the dark secerts that lay behind every door should absolutly give Silent Hill a go!

This is a worthy addition to the Silent Hill series, although much like Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill 4 takes us away from the formula of the first three, although not quite as much as RE4. With that said, Silent Hill 4 is great, I loved it when I first played it and after spending a few hours with this re-release it is bringing back all kinds of memories. I intend to do a full SH playthrough in the near future and can't wait to get this rolling in earnest. Top quality game, excellent atmosphere, classic Silent Hill mind-buggery, you can't go wrong.
