Just outside the gates of Avalon, a 12 years war realizes its climax, the uneasy alliance of seven western kingdoms created the Citadel of Avalon as a mighty fortress. But in the last eight months, the Citadel has become a city of refugees, a city under siege. The Sha'ahoul, under the banner of the Shaman Warlord Mithras, are waging a genocidal war against the Citadel. Take on the role of the Hero in a richly detailed world filled with hundreds of unique NPC`s, monsters ripped from ancient lore, and invading nomadic hordes.

PLAYED ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

Dive into the story of deception, treachery, and heroism through rich dialogues and in-game tomes. The game was designed with the idea of being a new type of book that gives a feeling of full immersion into its fantasy world.

FULL ANTHOLOGY

Get immediate access to the full game. Chapters one, two, and six lead you through the main story, while third, fourth and fifth chapters present the expansions that allow you to delve even further into the lore and adventures.

IT'S BEEN 20 YEARS. WILL IT RUN?

We are happy to bring back to life the "Siege of Avalon: Anthology". The game received its portion of technical care and now runs on modern operating systems without any extra shenanigans. The story, visuals, and gameplay are untouched - with all its charm and flaws. Enjoy playing the game on Windows 7 or later, improved stability and widescreen support.

OPEN-SOURCE

For all the years since the original release, Siege of Avalon had an incredible community around it. Once developers made the game's source code available, many fans put their time and efforts to ensure the game lives. We also want to contribute to the open source movement.
Now you can find our fork of the Siege of Avalon source code over here

Nostalgia plus Screen tearing

Just reporting on the game itself, you have a few options for resolution, up to 1920x1080 but no v-sync so there is quite a bit of tearing at least on my end. It's a fun game, hard, but also really moddable. It was the first game where I realized I could add items into the game, make characters have conversations, all sorts of stuff. It's fun.

Good and Bad

This game is a mess of cool armor (which actually shows on your character), interesting story, atrocious combat, a TERRIBLE 6th and final chapter, and glitchy quests. I had a few ongoing quests and the promise for some cool knight related mission in the 6th chapter which all got ignored because I tried to cure the wizard. If you want to play chapter 6 to its fullest, do not heal the wizard until you've done EVERYTHING. Seriously, it feels so rushed at the end for such a slow burn, interesting story. The end guy of the game unceremoniously just activates and removes all of your companions. Being a warrior, I had to rush up and auto attack him and hope his spell casting was in my favour (took about 10 tries, and on the 10th he fell in a couple of seconds). Then the game is over. Very disappointing. That being said, I had a ton of fun with the first few chapters, but be warned it degrades sharply. Also be warned you'll be doing an ice level that is perfectly manageable while the next fire level is nearly impossible without using the broken scout mechanic of casting shadow (on Wyatt or the elf) and having them inch across the screen to kill fire elementals with 1 shot. I had an issue with one quest, where the commander in South Gate wouldn't give me his report so I was unable to finish that one. Besides that, some quests are awkward running back and forth for 20 minutes only to have 1 line of dialogue to progress it. If you can get past irritating things like this, it is a very fun game as long as your willing to buy into it and overlook its (MAJOR) flaws.

fantastic, much like divine divinity

i am playing 5 hours straight as a scout.. very hard to begin with, especially if you didn't know that space bar is how you draw a weapon or you attack all the time with a fist.. other than that, i am on my toes so far, the tension is there, and the sense of siege is also. really nice and fresh if you're looking for something between diablo and a more strategy/rpg feel. quests are nice too.

Disapointing

Well. From all the glowing reviews I expected a hidden gem. But what I got was a game that just shows its age. It is extremely clunky and has very poor diablo-esque click combat combat and navigation, along with moronic enemy and NPC ally AI. It DOES have fairly good (not great) writing and atmosphere, but the gameplay is weak and pretty mindless and it doesn''t hold up well to modern games. For what its worth I got to halfway through Chapter 2 before I decided finishing it would just be masochism. Note 1 - I should note I have an ultrawide monitor - the game works well with it, amazingly, but it also means the combat, which I think is already pretty bad from what I see, is possibly even worse since it is hard to click on the small characters as soon as NPC allies get involved. Note 2 - I encountered no bug at end of chapter 1, but the boulder doesn't shift unless you talk to Mudam and possibly also decode the 4 scrolls via Lahren- I did both and the boulder vanished after talking to Mudam, but the text when reading the scrolls implied it should have vanished then. So possibly you need to do both, and possibly the scrolls trigger the Mudam conversation (I visited after decoding and then having the boulder not go away I went back to Mudam and had the chat).
