There is a completely different feel to each of the factions, or if you wish to employ a particular strategy with an ill-suited faction, then a ramp up of the difficulty. It may seem simple, but it's the Wonder videos that keep me coming back so often; they are just that amazing. You will definitely become addicted if you are a Civ fan, this game beats the Civ series into the ground in my opinion, even though I love them both.

A true classic that has hundreds of hours of game play potential and for $5.99 is a super bargain. The dated graphics are a retro treat if you have the proper attitude, but in any case, the gameplay is superb and rewarding. This is the kind of game that GOG was meant to make available -- kudos!

Just turn down the lights, turn up the sound, and let the interface draw you out into the unfolding drama taking place in an alien wilderness.

Since my Atari days to now, this game is always in my top 3 of all time. It is sad that the outdated graphics will prevent newer generations from picking up this amazingly rich game. I can still name all the factions by heart after so many years, which goes to show how colourfully written they were.

This is my favorite game. Ever. I still have my original copy, and I play it still. Every year it sucks me back in and I play it obsessively for months. After that, I put it away 'til the next year. I think it is even better than Civilization.
