I used to have this game on disk. It is so Great to see it on a upgrade for newer computers. I just love this game, one of the best puzzle games out there.
A lot of us buy these old games because we remember them fondly but then never really replay them. I bought this, and re-beat it, which shows how well this game was put together. It's still very atmospheric with very interesting environments and great music. If you can get past the movie compression being nearly a quarter century old and a definite annoyance, and one or two 'super speed' glitches I encountered that were annoying but not game breaking, it's worth going back for this game.
So, in conclusion, all I can say is bring on Shivers 2, GOG.
I remember playing this way back when it came out and I struggled to get past all the challenging puzzles the game threw my way, so I just gave up. I ended up watching my dad play through which took him 5 months to beat mainly due to being stuck on the dreaded Chinese checker puzzle. The music and Ixupi were the highlights of the game for me. Looking forward to jumping back into this game as an adult now and try to complete the game on my own!
Did you like Myst but tired of its esoteric nonsense cleverly disguised as logical puzzles. Did you ever want it have a spooky atmosphere. Then holy shit, Shivers is for you! You play as a college student (maybe Highschool) that is exploring a abandoned museum filled with diabolical puzzles while trying to recapture the deadly spirits known as the Ixupi. If you're a fan of brainteasers, adventure games, or just games with a creepy ambience then classic is a must have!
Still one of, if not my top, favorite computer game. I played when it came out 20 years ago and have come back to it time to time over the years, but not lately as I couldn't run it on my newer laptops. I love that I can now play this on Windows 10. I still have the original disc copy which I discovered I still kept notes tucked into the cover of the harder puzzle solutions. As a lot of people have mentioned, that Chinese checkers puzzle is a bitch! The museum is big and intricate and beautiful. The music for each room is spot on and really adds to the overall atmosphere. Highly recommend for those that love puzzle based games.
