One of Sierra's miracles
This is absolutely one of the most fantastic puzzle/adventure games I have ever played. You are locked inside an abandoned (?) museum trying to figure out how to get out. Gameplay: it's a first-person slideshow-navigation game, completely controlled by mouse. The museum is a huge place to explore, but you learn to get around fairly easy. The game has no time limit, so you can explore at your own pace. The game's obstacles are almost exclusively puzzle-oriented, ranging from easy to complex ones (with 1 or 2 super hard ones). Your purpose is to trap some "entities" inside special vessels which are scattered around. The process is basically this: find vessel, find matching lid for the vessel, find entity that can be trapped in that specific vessel. Of course, it's not so easy as it sounds, as you can carry only 1 item each time. This means you will have to note places where you found/left other vessels/lids & you will have to backtrack often. To spice things up a bit, an entity you found in a room just moments ago may not be there when you come back, but in another room. The good thing is that each entity has a specific "property" that helps you guess where it might be. You also have a "life" bar (!) but don't worry, it's very easy to avoid dying. Audio: oh the music. This game has a brilliant soundtrack! It's so good I still remember most of its tracks after all these years. The music ranges from pure ambient to dark industrial & electronic, matching the atmosphere perfectly. Speaking of atmosphere, don't expect to be "scared" by the game as it is not meant to be a "horror" game in that sense (you will know what I mean when you encounter the 1st entity). The game's title is its purpose and it delivers 100%, pure chilly atmosphere. Fun fact: each time you start a new game (not a saved one) the initial positions of the vessels & lids are randomized so it has some form of replay value (no, puzzles won't change). Conclusion: if you like good adventure games get this now.
