Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments

This game is - apart from Sherlock Holmes: The Case of the Rose Tattoo - my favourite Sherlock game by far. Why? Because 1. it feels like reading Conan Doyles short stories (there are several cases to solve) and fits the Strand Magazine style perfectly, 2. Much attention is on creating a very believable "Victorian style" atmosphere and the game is very detailed, 3. The cases are diverse and interesting. I also like the fact that this portrayal of Sherlock Holmes is more in the vein of Jeremy Bretts brillant interpretation and feels very authentic. Crimes and Punishments is the highlight of Frogwares' series without any doubt for me and while I was disgusted by how "Testament" interpreted Conan Doyle's literary figure I'm really happy with this Sherlock. For every reader of the Strand Magazine-novels and every Sherlock Holmes fan this game is simply a must!

This game in my opinion is the best of Sherlock Holmes series. the atomosphere adds a lot to the cases. It's not complicated but still very joyful to solve cases. you are the detective and the judge which something nice to be in real life :). You will not feel that you are under presure because of the puzzles but you will enjoy solving them. Very balanced game and the dialogues are not boring at all.

Theey have really captured the atmosphere of the Sherlock Holmes stories in this set of investigations. The detective work feels purposeful and fluid giving the game a great sense of momentum. You will feel challenged, but rarely stuck. The mini games are often very difficult, but they can be skipped. I wish Frogware had stuck with this style. Chapter One just does not appeal to me.

3D point and click adventure, graphics are nice, voice acting is fantastic, and story is interesting, but somehow I'm not feeling very invested on it, I feel like I'm barely using my brain with the puzzles, I mean, I don't like moon logicvc in my P&C, but I feel like I'm not very involved in the deductive process, it's hard to explain, but I didn't feel any "eureka" moments (at least on my part), maybe Sherlock is just too smart for me. Don't get me wrong, the game is not bad, and it's worth playing it for the interesting plot, but I'm not feeling like Sherlock, I'm just the guy holding the camera.

What a beautiful rendering of our favorite characters! The visuals are quite good for its age and the voice acting is superb! Game-wise, it's all about investigating and making connections among clues, of course. I really like the way the characters relate to each other. They stay true to the personalities. So far the mystery seems ... easy but not TOO easy. I'm a novice so anything harder would probably discourage me anyway. I'm looking forward to solving this case and then the oters as well. Glad I got this!
