Shattered Pixel Dungeon is a traditional roguelike dungeon crawler RPG that's simple to get into but hard to master! Every game is a unique challenge, with six different heroes, randomized levels and enemies, and hundreds of items to collect and use. ShatteredPD is also updated with new content roughly every three months, so there's always something new.
Each of ShatteredPD's six playable heroes has their own unique mechanics and gameplay style. Cut down foes as the durable Warrior or deadly Duelist, fry your enemies as the arcane Mage or divine Cleric, or use terrain to your advantage as the stealthy Rogue or the markswoman Huntress!
As you progress through the dungeon you'll earn points to spend on talents, choose a subclass, and gain powerful lategame abilities. You can turn the Duelist into a dual-wielding Champion, the Cleric into a righteous Paladin, the Huntress into a precise Sniper, or explore loads of other possibilities!
ShatteredPD's dungeon is procedurally generated with random layouts, room types, items, traps, and enemies. In each game you'll find equipment and collect or craft consumable items to power you up or help you out in a pinch. There is a huge variety to what you might see from run to run and region to region.
As you progress through the dungeon you'll find equipment that can be enchanted, upgraded, and augmented as you outfit your hero. Set foes ablaze with an enchanted weapon, wade through enemies with upgraded armor, or gain powerful damage, defensive, or utility benefits from one of the many magical wands, rings, artifacts, or trinkets.
The Dungeon is filled with enemies, traps, hazards, and bosses intent on ending your run! Battle hostile wildlife in the sewers and caves, mad thieves and guards in the prison, occult servants in the fallen dwarven city, and maybe something even worse further down...
All these hazards can make the game quite tough, but don't be discouraged! You probably won't win on your first try, but there are many tricks and strategies to discover and learn on the path to getting your first win. Afterward, there are optional challenges and achivements if you want to put your skills to the test!

i have been playing this game for years on my kindlle fire. it freaking cures my adhd. its a game that forces you to think critically and not just run in guns blazing. though you can do that as well. you will die a lot playing this game. thats ok. when i say a lot. i mean hundreds of times. i have hundreds of hours of gameplay and often die in the first five minutes. ive never beat the game and ive been playing for years.
i love the gameplay mechanics, and being able to beat the crap out of my enemies once im high level is fun.
Really easy to get into, although hard to master, shattered pixel dungeon is a really fun game with hundreds of hours of content, it has both great art style and music, and its really cheap if you want to support the devs, but its also free on mobile if you want to try it first.
All the other reviewers had a lot more fun with this than I did.
My very first introduction to this game was 'Restart because the game refuses to read your Logitech F170 game controller'. I mention the controller type because it's not like it's rare, it's very common.
After the fourth restart, the controller began working.
I almost wish it hadn't.
You see, this game is a good example of the concept known as 'Technically correct'.
Yes, there's 'controller support'. That's technically correct.
The 'controller support' is this: Your R stick is the mouse and your R2 is the left-mouse click.
You expected to be able to use the L stick and/or the Dpad to move through the menu?
NO.
Not only is it the *other* stick, you have a fiddly little pointer to deal with. It's literally just a worse version of the mouse control.
If you've ever tried to use the Steam controller input functionality to play an old keyboard-only game, you know EXACTLY what to expect.
========================================
This game is so taken with the idea of gamepad user being forced to use mouse-vibed controls that the game suffers.
Do you need to pick up something right next to you?
In most games you'd simply stand next to it and press X or another of the face keys.
In this game you have to:
- Stand next to it
- Hover your cursor over it (it must be on the item)
- Press R2
Hovering the cursor in the exact right spot takes WAY too long.
I can't remember the last time I played a game for such a short amount of time and just lost interest. This game didn't even last 10 minutes with me.
The only reason it has 3 Stars and not 2:
The game works and has had a LOT of work put into it. Like, A LOT.
I only wish I enjoyed their work, because I have no intention of playing this game ever again.
