An enjoyable "solitaire with a story".

While being "solitaire with a story" it also has some card combat and RPG elements. The story has more "depth" than you normally see in these types of games. Don't get me wrong it isn't a AAA RPG quality story, but it did keep me interested. The card combat consists of taking turns on a solitaire layout with an opponent, as you make matches your weapons charge up. The variety of enemies, clothing/armor, weapons, and "potions" is quite large considering the type of game it is. You will run into the same type of enemy sometimes, especially near the end of the game, but it makes sense in the context of the story. Besides getting to choose the weapons, clothing/armor, and potions you'll take into each fight with you you also have stats that you'll be able to raise after finishing each area. These stats have different affects while playing solitaire. The only thing I didn't like about it was that the cards went from 0-9, with the 0 playing the role of an "ace" in standard solitaire. I forgot that on multiple occasions.

Design Decision Ruins Game

Very enjoyable game up until the 50% point. Then for some reason the developer decided to make the computer obviously cheat and remove all the fun from the game. The first half of the game is nicely balanced as to cards available for combos for both the AI and human player. Once you hit the chapter a little pass the 50% point of the game, the AI gets an unreasonable number of card combos and other bonuses that make it impossible to win. I've tried multiple times without success. Plus there is no way to adjust the difficulty, leaving your progress stuck. I'll be looking for a refund on this game. Too bad the dev had to ruin it with that design decision.

Good concept, overused minigame

Initially, it's fun and it flows nicely and the minigame with "match the current card with a card that's +/-1 its value" is a fresh, interesting spin. However, all the game really does is make you do the same card minigame over and over with more matches in later chapters lined up, so they're just artificially longer. Apart from your eyes glazing over from the numbers after a time and just hovering over the cards with the mouse because you're so sick of just seeing number change randomly, how the next number comes up is very much a game of mere chance for both you and your opponent. XD It's funny having a duel and seeing how the chance game of numbers clearly happens to favor you or your opponent and you're forced to let the thing runs its course and restart because you didn't happen to get the right numbers. The equipment changing is nice, but the stats you can increase when leveling up feel largely meaningless. The music is pleasant and suits the mood of the scenes, the artwork is fantastic and the story is most intriguing given you play as a noble lady turned bandit, but it becomes boring fast due to the numbers being up to mere chance. I'd rather watch a video of the game than play it as it is and I do think it would be a lot better as a normal visual novel or if it had combat without the card minigame that's so painfully overused for literally every encounter.

Not an RPG

I thought this game would be fun because I love RPG's and card games. It's not an RPG, should just be called a card game. I made it to chapter 15 and I don't think I will go any further. The person I am dueling is so overpowering he's at 60 something and I'm at 2. I hit him and he hits me right back, he gets the cards and I have to pass. The potions are lousy and very few to be bought. One has 20% health but your weapon charges slower. I don't know if they have any that will give you full health, I might have missed them if they do. I have a bunch of clothing that I can't figure out how to sell, unless we can't sell to the store. It's disappointing, I really wanted to like the game but at least it was inexpensive.

Beautiful, but limited

Nice visuals and overall atmosphere. Additional puzzles make card game itself more diverse and interesting. Unfortunately game demands good tactical skills. You can't just relax and play cards as in Solitaire - typical enemy in early levels has 50% higher stats and is fully loaded with potions. And that ruined game for me. You can't get better equipment, you can't even purchase as many potions as you'd want. You're limited to a scarce minimum that developers provided to you.
