The Shadow Warrior 2: Bounty Hunt Part 2 content update delivers thirteen thrilling new missions, two spectacular new weapons, and three powerful new perks for Lo Wang and the gang. Strap on your katana and go for one last ride alone or in co-op through missions like Lost Girls, Missing Yakuza, and Danger Zone with new weapons like the Tactical Bullet Spewing Machine (TBSM).

The Shadow Warrior 2: Bounty Hunt Part 1 content update piles on the action with fourteen wild new missions, two dazzling new weapons, and four tantalizing new perks for Lo Wang and the gang. Battle alone or with up to four ninjas in crime in some of the most over the top missions yet like Plague of the Bunny Lords, 50 Shades of Shade, and Danger Zone on Mt. Akuma. Strike at the demon hordes with new perks like Revenge and Shared Pain or arm up with the new Medusa Ray and EX-GF01 minigun.

Shadow Warrior 2’s The Way of the Wang Content Update opens up a new area within the game’s hub town, presenting seven special trials for Lo Wang to unlock and overcome. Players will be able to earn new crafting abilities, weapon gem slots, and base weapon stat upgrades upon completing each new trial with the new Fist of Gozu battle axe awaiting those warriors that complete all of the trials. The update also includes three new tiers for Insane difficulty and five new achievements to unlock in the campaign.

Shadow Warrior 2 is the stunning evolution of Flying Wild Hog’s offbeat first-person shooter following the further misadventures of former corporate shogun Lo Wang. Now surviving as a reclusive mercenary on the edge of a corrupted world, the formidable warrior must again wield a devastating combination of guns, blades, magic and wit to strike down the demonic legions overwhelming the world. Battle alongside allies online in four-player co-op or go it alone in spectacular procedurally-generated landscapes to complete daring missions and collect powerful new weapons, armor, and arcane relics of legend.

Five years have passed since Lo Wang shattered the alliance between his deceitful former boss and the ancient gods of the shadow realm. Despite noble intentions, Lo Wang’s efforts to annihilate the darkness corrupted the world, creating a strange and savage new order where humans and demons live side by side.

The once feared warrior now lives in the shifting wildlands outside the reach of his enemies and the neon glow of Zilla’s cybernetic metropolis, scratching out a meager existence as a hired sword for the local Yakuza clans. When a simple mission goes wrong, Lo Wang is drawn into a volatile conflict between a brilliant young scientist, a controversial cult leader, and a terrifying new drug known as Shade. The sharp-tongued hero must once again wield lethal blades, staggering firepower, and archaic magic to purge the world of evil.
  • Blades and Bullets – Lo Wang delivers his own brand full throttle brutality with an expanded array of over 70 lethal blades and explosive firearms to overcome the demonic opposition. Become a whirlwind of steel and blood with razor sharp katana, short swords, crescent blades, and hand claws or unleash a hellish symphony of ornate firearms to decimate your enemies.
  • Four Player Co-Op – Battle through the expansive campaign alone or team up as a four-player typhoon of destruction online in campaign co-op mode. Tackle challenging primary missions or thrilling side quests while maintaining your own ninja style with customizable armor, items, and valuable loot from your triumphs.
  • Procedural Environments – The breach between the human and demon realms created an interdimensional hernia resulting in constant shifts to the world of Shadow Warrior 2. Procedurally generated landscapes and paths bring new twists and turns to once familiar terrain and routine missions.
  • Brutal Damage System – Choose your weapon based on the situation at hand and then dismantle everything that stands in your path with an advanced gore system. Use precision blade strikes to separate limbs and heads or switch to heavy ordinance and blow a hole right through colossal beasts.
  • Custom Upgrade System – Upgrade weapons in your arsenal with up to three stones at once to improve performance or augment them with devastating elemental effects. Collect karma, amulets, and armor to enhance Lo Wang’s power and shift his death-dealing artistry into overdrive.

A fun time with some annoyances.

Overall it was a fun Co-op experience with some downsides. This is based on a single playthrough on Hard and not going for that "true" experiecne of multiple Insanity runs to reach the highest of levels and maxed out gems. good: - sword combat is fun - explosive weapons combat is fun - missions are straight forward - some fun weapons to find - some fun gems/mods to find - some hilarious writing (that sometimes goes wrong too, which is also kinda fun though) annoying: - many weapons that don't add anything new or exciting over the other ones - the whole enemy immunity to elements system is just pointlessly annoying - no weapon is 100% accurate even on first bullet and modding for it is a waste which makes using guns that favor precision shooting aggravating - too much trash upgrade loot turning that system into busy work - most parts of the upgrades/gem related Userinterface - the [Powersimune] tag isn't a good way to balance out the spammable skills - the [Swift] tag on drones, ARGH - the [Physical Resist/Imune] tag on anything really - that ingame chat typing noise bad: - story progress is only recorded for coop host, not clients - coop partner would drop a few times at start of missions and had to be reinvited - coop partner on rare occation didn't recieve a reward from a mission ("Like the Wind" skill) - some boss tag combinations in the bounties result in ridiculous amounts of defense + constant self healing to the point of wanting to reroll the entire mission instead of suffering through that. - the ending is just... wat?

Great follow-up game with one flaw

I loved the first Shadow Warrior (2013) which I can recommend strongly and play it before this one. Not needed it will just make you understand some of the story better in this one. It has its main story missions, side missions and bounties. There are also something called Trials which is needed to be completed to unlock certain "upgrades" to the gems and weapons. These are not needed to complete the game. I did it on No Pain No Gain(insanity 1) with just upgrading weapons 1 time and did just fine damage wise. You can can fix up your weapons to do some great things with the gems you find in the game. The game has a lot of weapons and gems. This is the flaw I find in the game. It has way to many gems and weapons. I like variety but in this one it is just to much and time consuming to go through it all. The combat is fun and can quickly become utter chaotic. Music in the game is awesome. The characters are great. The puns are great. Graphically it is spot on. All in all a great game just with the flaw that it has way to many things that makes it time consuming to go through it all.

Decent but underwhelming game

Shadow Warrior 2 tries to stride the line between RPG and shooter, and the result didn't impress me. When I first started the game, I was overwhelmed by the huge numbers of weapon enhancements you get at every turn and underwhelmed by the number of weapons, spells, and enemy behaviors I encountered. The magic system in Shadow Warrior 2 wasn't what I was playing for, didn't do anything overly impressive (you can't even use the most interesting abilities on bosses), and I quickly abandoned it in favor of just shooting and stabbing. The gunplay is serviceable. To get to the real meat of the weapons you'll have to dive into the enhancement system. However, there are enhancements that are objectively better than others, so you'll constantly be going over your weapons to make sure you've got the best options installed. It was only after a few hours of play that I finally got into it; before then, I was considering dropping the game entirely thanks to repeated deaths. If you want to survive, you have to upgrade. The main story of the game is serviceable, and the characters are fun. However, the side missions are often devoid of much character, and go on for way too long. I quickly game up trying to complete them. Finally, the foes remained fairly dull. Many are bullet sponges, and many just run straight at you. More interesting foes appeared later in the game, and you unlock better tools later in the game to make killing enemies fun. Still, it's the weapons that make this game more than the foes. Shadow Warrior 2 is a decent bargain-bin grab. If you're hurting for a shooter, or you want to swing a sword just like you did in the 2013 Shadow Warrior remake, this game will work.

I've definitely got some wang.

This game is so cool, I felt like a badass playing on the highest difficulty. The combat is gritifyng and even the music makes you feel powerfull. This was a big improvement over the 2013 game (still cool but the combos were a nightmare).

Significant improvement over first game

I must say Shadow Warrior 2 is a significant improvement over first Shadow Warrior game. But not in all aspects which is why I'm not giving it all 5 stars. They got away with absurd double tapping to trigger directional attacks and methods of execution, expanded upgrading and to my surprise, changed weapons and powers as well as stats upgrading more to Borderlands style. Lots of everything thrown at you and it's up to you to make the best combo that fits your style. And it's pretty good once you figure it out. Graphics and music great as always and combat is much more fluid and smooth. Very nice indeed. There are really just two things that went on my nerves hard. And they both relate to world design. The game tries at "open world" concept, but just becomes really repetitive and annoying to walk through same worlds over and over crushing enemies just randomly dropped on the map or always in the same spot with few exceptions. Hell, even the final boss fight is in a place you've visited like 6 times before. Don't get me wrong, the worlds are beautifully made, but you visit them all in like 1st quarter of the game and then it's just rehashing of the exact same areas with different basic tasks. In that regard, I actually liked linear progression through levels in first Shadow Warrior. At least you had this sense of progression and discovery of new world as you play through. The other issue I have with worlds are annoying and silly drops to death. Basically every time I died, it was because I fell into the void and not because I got killed. Usually coz I was chasing the path where to go and just dropped of. Or got pushed by an enemy and fell off. But oh well, at least you just respawn and not have to play all through again. I guess Shadow Warrior 3 that's planned for 2021 might hit those 5 stars given the progress they are making through games. Quite excited for it actually :)
