Description
The Shadow Warrior 2: Bounty Hunt Part 2 content update delivers thirteen thrilling new missions, two spectacular new weapons, and three powerful new perks for Lo Wang and the gang. Strap on your katana and go for one last ride alone or in co-op through missions like Lost Girls, Missing Yakuza, and Danger Zone with new weapons like the Tactical Bullet Spewing Machine (TBSM).

The Shadow Warrior 2: Bounty Hunt Part 1 content update piles on the action with fourteen wild new missions, two dazzling new weapons, and four tantalizing new perks for Lo Wang and the gang. Battle alone or with up to four ninjas in crime in some of the most over the top missions yet like Plague of the Bunny Lords, 50 Shades of Shade, and Danger Zone on Mt. Akuma. Strike at the demon hordes with new perks like Revenge and Shared Pain or arm up with the new Medusa Ray and EX-GF01 minigun.

Shadow Warrior 2’s The Way of the Wang Content Update opens up a new area within the game’s hub town, presenting seven special trials for Lo Wang to unlock and overcome. Players will be able to earn new crafting abilities, weapon gem slots, and base weapon stat upgrades upon completing each new trial with the new Fist of Gozu battle axe awaiting those warriors that complete all of the trials. The update also includes three new tiers for Insane difficulty and five new achievements to unlock in the campaign.

Shadow Warrior 2 is the stunning evolution of Flying Wild Hog’s offbeat first-person shooter following the further misadventures of former corporate shogun Lo Wang. Now surviving as a reclusive mercenary on the edge of a corrupted world, the formidable warrior must again wield a devastating combination of guns, blades, magic and wit to strike down the demonic legions overwhelming the world. Battle alongside allies online in four-player co-op or go it alone in spectacular procedurally-generated landscapes to complete daring missions and collect powerful new weapons, armor, and arcane relics of legend.

Five years have passed since Lo Wang shattered the alliance between his deceitful former boss and the ancient gods of the shadow realm. Despite noble intentions, Lo Wang’s efforts to annihilate the darkness corrupted the world, creating a strange and savage new order where humans and demons live side by side.

The once feared warrior now lives in the shifting wildlands outside the reach of his enemies and the neon glow of Zilla’s cybernetic metropolis, scratching out a meager existence as a hired sword for the local Yakuza clans. When a simple mission goes wrong, Lo Wang is drawn into a volatile conflict between a brilliant young scientist, a controversial cult leader, and a terrifying new drug known as Shade. The sharp-tongued hero must once again wield lethal blades, staggering firepower, and archaic magic to purge the world of evil.
  • Blades and Bullets – Lo Wang delivers his own brand full throttle brutality with an expanded array of over 70 lethal blades and explosive firearms to overcome the demonic opposition. Become a whirlwind of steel and blood with razor sharp katana, short swords, crescent blades, and hand claws or unleash a hellish symphony of ornate firearms to decimate your enemies.
  • Four Player Co-Op – Battle through the expansive campaign alone or team up as a four-player typhoon of destruction online in campaign co-op mode. Tackle challenging primary missions or thrilling side quests while maintaining your own ninja style with customizable armor, items, and valuable loot from your triumphs.
  • Procedural Environments – The breach between the human and demon realms created an interdimensional hernia resulting in constant shifts to the world of Shadow Warrior 2. Procedurally generated landscapes and paths bring new twists and turns to once familiar terrain and routine missions.
  • Brutal Damage System – Choose your weapon based on the situation at hand and then dismantle everything that stands in your path with an advanced gore system. Use precision blade strikes to separate limbs and heads or switch to heavy ordinance and blow a hole right through colossal beasts.
  • Custom Upgrade System – Upgrade weapons in your arsenal with up to three stones at once to improve performance or augment them with devastating elemental effects. Collect karma, amulets, and armor to enhance Lo Wang’s power and shift his death-dealing artistry into overdrive.

Missed Opportunity

There are moments when this game is fun, but too often they are interupted by bad design: 1)Mission in same region share maps, so you will be moving through same 3-4 enviroments, visiting same spots. 2)Agro range on roaming mobs is kind of broken, often many groups are attracted to you during fight resulting in gank. 3)Most upgrade tokens are trash, vasting your time selling/crafting. 4)Weapon upgrades are mostly elemental damage focused, on its own not bad, but in combination with how often mobs have various resists, means that quite often some of your weapons will randomly become useless. At any time you can change upgrades, but how fun is spending most of the fight in menu. 5)Melee combat is super shallow and clunky. Standard attacks are just mindless slashes, which sometimes enemy decides to block. Special attacks are controled by movement keys, so if you want to perform attack that doesn't match your current movement, you have to temporarly change diraction. There is also block button, it works in 1v1, but 99% of fights are againts groupsso it is pointless to use.

I liked you better dumb and gorgeous

Summary: A great game when it's on sale. Having enjoyed the previous game is not a guarantee you'll like this one. There's a lot of good humour and character interaction, but it's also the most interesting part of the game and much of the rest is poorly done. There's no denying SW2 was trying to capitalise on Borderlands' success. Everything that's supposed to make the core game more interesting is making it worse. Details would be lengthy writing. The RPG elements are not done well, to the point of being annoying. There's no sense of a coherent world. You're teleporting to where you need to be. Not an open world game, but it's using gameplay and story progression mechanics which you'd expect from one. That could have been justified by having amazing shooting galleries, but the level design is bad. Enemies aren't doing the game any favours either. There's few types and they're either reskinned, or upgraded. Objectives are very repetitive and for that reason I skipped the bounties. Aside from the main story, there are trivia which you collect throughout the game. There's a ton of them and most are interesting. The question is whether the game gets you invested enough to actually read them. Characters are great and I wanted to see their story unfold. Unfortunately, the game is not delivering the story effectively and character development seems forced. The best parts of the game are interactions between characters and the protagonist, and to be completely honest, it was the only thing that kept me going. By the end of the game, I was not enjoying the gameplay very much, I was skipping any enemies I could, and all I wanted was to see how it all turns out. *****MILD SPOILERS AHEAD**** And it did not turn out good. The ending is a cliffhanger, and a rather confusing one at that. I lost much respected for the developers. It's just not something you do unless you have a guaranteed plan to deliver more content immediately, and today it's safe to say they didn't.

I hate this game

Shadow Warrior 2013 was great oldschool shooter with nice story. In sequel they changed it into crappy looter shooter with awful plot and even more awful jokes and trashed everything i like in previous game. I sprinted through main quest, because i hate in FPSs to loss time with piles of colorful garbage items, enemies with life bars, boring levels with awful enemies placement and chaotic combat during which nothing can be seen. There is one plus of sequel, when you can see something in chaos of effects and models, you can see how lovely enemies are turning into pieces.

Borderlands Warrior 2

To start I'd like to say I'm a huge fan of Devolver digital and its generally a good idea to give them your money. Sadly though I feel as if this game missed the mark in reguards to level design and gameplay direction even though it is a polished and professional game. Initially I dont have a problem with the borderlands influence, and I get that they wanted to extend the replayability of the game while keeping the series fresh. My problem here is what they had to sacrifice in order to achieve it. The levels are huge but they are empty, theres tons of loot but its mostly worthless, there are lots of abilities but there is no incentive to use them, and my list of complaints goes on. This is an open world game with a shadow warrior skin so if that sounds appealing to you then go for it but if you are a fan of what made the 1997 original and its 2013 remake great then I cannot reccommend it.

Generic, half-finished, forgettable.

This game is always '75% off' for a reason. I can't be entirely sure what happened. While never out-right terrible, SW2 manages to get a C- in every aspect of its design. The art, the story, the gameplay, the RPG elements, even the SHOOTING. It's all... subpar. Never worse, but never any better. In terms of story, it takes Shadow Warrior 2013's sense of parody, and turns it into an exhausting cliche. It's art is incredibly inconsistent, ranging from 'technical masterpiece' to 'why am I in GTA IV?' The loot is a DISASTER. Think: 'what if Borderlands had spreadsheets?' (with an inventory system akin to a TI-85 calculator) My best explanation? It feels like Devolver tried to break into the looter/shooter market, but didn't want to commit financially. Fortunately, this cynical and poorly envisioned entry flopped - and we haven't seen any attempts since. In my mind, a sequel should build off the achievements of its predecessor - ideally, design around critiques the first game faced. SW2 does none of that. Don't buy SW2 at full price. If you play games when you're too tired to think, and need a time-waster: get it on sale. If you're addicted to looter/shooters and DESPARATELY need something new: *maybe* get it on sale. Otherwise, go play Doom 2017 or any Borderlands game. They offer the same things, but done properly.
