Serious Sam 4

Running it with a 1070. Plays very well and smooth. I have seen others complain about the game performing well. I have stressed tested it a few times, and my finding were it runs well, just turn off stuff like Anti-aliasing, and a few tweaks here there. Gameplay is like you expect from a Serious Sam game, a nice touch added is the side quests tossed in. Combat feels nice like the other games, fast, frantic and snappy. Overall not the most perfect Serious Sam game to date, but still worth a playthrough for its humor!

Technical issues, boring map design, a lot of unused space, looks rushed. The shooting's solid but given the fact that it jitters on almost any hardware it's not really helping much. All I can say buy it on discount and you'll be satisfied though it's a poor installment. I hope Serious Sam 5 will make up for this disastrous release. Croteam you can do better than this... don't do cash crabs nor rush your product.

Pros: The shooting is actually satisfying Cool alt-fires and gadgets to use. Better enemy design than SS3, without hitscanning enemies(thank god) Cool mecha-driving sequence Cons: Horrendous performance and bugs all over the place Legion System is a lie Lots of lazy and reused assets(from Talos Principle!), from music to environmental. Bad level design overall, some have too much obstacles to stuck yourself, and some feel empty. Game looks like it was made in 2010, sometimes even worse than Serious Sam 3(executions, lightning, etc) Story and humor is totally off. Side characters are annoying as hell, and cutscenes are disturbing at best and painful at worst. I'd say don't play it. Or if you really want to, wait for them to at least fix the fixable stuff on the list and get it at a 75% discount tag. You won't be killing "thousands and thousands of enemies on screen" on this one.

I have been a fan since Next Encounter on the Gamecube and then went on the play the originals and then SS 3. Next Encounter will probably always be my favorite (and that isn't entirely nastalgia). This game is a big step up from 3. It feels more like the classics right down to the bad one liners. Though I could do with less story, but all the cutscenes are skippable. The guns are fun, and the new secondary fire modes and perks add a little spice to the run'n gun gameplay. The new enemies also fit right in. It also doesn't take long to start throwing some mayhem and bigger enemy counts at you. Serious Sam is still the best 3/5 game that I'll give a 4/5 to because its just a good, dumb fun. I haven't had any technical issues except some stuttering in the cutscenes, but I am not here for the narative. If you're on an AMD machine, putz with the settings and try setting it to Vulkan. It runs smooth as butter at 144fps for me when it matters. PS. If anyone from CROTEAM happens to read this, please port Next Encounter to PC. I've still got my copy for the GC, and emulation is all well and good... but if it got the remaster treatment like first and second encounter I would pick it up.

Have this on steam. And it's honestly a gigantic letdown. Boring empty levels. Horrible difficulty scaling. The worst voice acting I've heard in years, and at terrible attempt at a plot. This game makes SS3 look like a masterpiece. Truly garbage, I am done with croteam.
