Serious Sam 4

With Serious Sam 3 taking too long to become a Serious Sam game and lacking in color, Serious Sam 4 takes those criticisms and starts throwing the horde after you almost right away. There are some odd choices for default settings such as health bars and drab color pallete. You can turn off the health bar and make your crosshair as the health icon like the older games which I recommened you do. Also turning the color pallete to vivid helps with making the world stand out much more with color to make it a little more appealing to look at and slightly closer to Serious Sam 1. Still not as vivid but again closer to what made Sam stand out from the other shooters. The game is much better after the day one patch. However I did enouncter an odd bug when the GOG servers were down and the game wouldn't see any of my save files which were only a couple directories down from the install location (Game supposed to be DRM free right). I was able to load the save file via dragging and dropping the save file onto the exe. Hopefully Croteam fix that bug. All in all, the gunplay is like Serious Sam 3 but better. The level design could use some work to make it easier to move around when avoiding the horde. I prefer to skip all the cutscense so can't give my opinion on it. As a Croat, a huge fan since TFE. TFE/TSE are wonderfull games. SS2 was just ok. SS3 took the Sam in the wrong direction. SS4 looks like an expansion for SS3, that is 7-8 years late. Graphics are good, when they dont glitch, and they glitch a lot. Loading times are like on a 2000. PC, not a modern 8C-16T-CPU/32GB-RAM/1TB-SSD. Crashes a lot, sometimes between loading, once even locket-up my PC, so i needed to log-off to force-close SS4. AI is just stupid, path-finding is even worse than SS3, enemies get stuck, melt together, it just feels rushed and incomplete. Stick with TFE and TSE, and maybe SS2 if you want to try something different SSAM game. Avoid SS3 and SS4 - its not worth it. Would give 0/5, but 1/5 is minimum. Save your 40€ and get TFE and TSE - games that are fun to play.

The potential for a better game is there however, shoddy controls, an uncessary upgrade skill point system, encounters that are annoying, and glitches make the game just unjoyable. The humor in this game also does not match up to previous entries. Serious Sam has become a serious dud with this entry.

The game is really boring. Level design is all over the place and makes no sense. Seems like all of the effort went into adding unnecessary NPCs and terrible dialog for Sam. Developers probably thought that the success of the prior games will carry this game forward.

How is this is possible, that such experienced developer as CROTEAM can't even put in own game normalized volume dialogues? Every other voice is or too loud, or too silent. I gave up after changing volume setting every two minutes... And they dont even care to fix it after YEARS after release.
