At the very heart of Septerra lies the Core, a huge Biocomputer. Seven continents at different elevations, each with its own unique people and culture, orbit around the Core.
According to an ancient prophecy, Septerra's continents will one day converge and join in orbit together on one level - this is the Legacy of Marduk, the Creator's son. The Chosen, fanatical believers in the supremacy of their own wisdom and technology, impatiently try to force the issue - causing a global catastrophe which threatens the lives of all Septerreans.
Meanwhile, amongst the Junkers, a young woman named Maya gets caught up in the developing maelstrom and soon finds herself confronted by seemingly insurmountable problems. Without help she stands no chance of fulfilling the Prophesy before Septerra perishes. But whom can she trust in a world torn by war and treacherous intrigue - a world on the edge of the abyss?

Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
bought this game from gog, was very happy about it, been playing it for more than month and NOW, after beating really a major part of the game, i get FATAL PANIC ERROR. it destroyed my save files. conclusion: i am fu.ked.
I actually don't mind post-apocalipse, although it has become one of the most abused cliches, but this game... Someone said that Septerra Core is a perfect blend of japanese and western RPGs, The only problem is, i think jRPGs are shallow. Don't get me wrong, not story-wise, but the gameplay is shallow. There's just not much to do with your character, and it's plain blasphemy calling it an RPG.
All in all, if you are a Final Fantasy/Chrono Trigger fan, you might enjoy it. If you're not, skip this one.
The game itself is amazing. I mean, it's dated, it's a jrpg game from the late 90s. If you're on this page you probably like that kind of thing. The story is amazing, the world is so beautifully crafted. The characters are loveable, and some hateable (in a good way, you want bad villains, right?). The story is worth experiencing even now.
But... this version used to work, now it doesn't. I have no idea why but GOG has added their own bloat to the install folder and messed around with the files, added their own crap, which now makes the game an unplayable mess. It just, it doesn't run right. You get perhaps 1 fps, maybe. I don't know what they did, but they should not have done it. It's broken. Steam version works better, it's own issues like a stretched aspect ratio by default but that's fixable. This version is not.
I'm in the D3 beta, I play Dota 2, Skyrim, you name it. My pc would not run this. I uninstalled it. There is a fix on the forums that didn't work. Shame, it is a good game. Just wont work.
