One of the greatest pirate games.
This game is my absolute childhood, my grandfather played it, my Dad played it, I've played it, and now my son has played it. There's some issue with the graphics malfunctioning when the weather is stormy, but aside from that GOG has done a great job at making this game run on modern systems.

Sea Dogs - System not compatable error
I rather enjoyed this game until it crashed. Since the crash all I get is a "system not compatable" error message when I try to launch it. I tried "repair game" - didn't work. I tried "update game" - didn't work. I searched online and found "change resolution to match PC" - didn't work. I found "run as Windows XP" - didn't work. I tried uninstall and then installed it again - didn't work. My PC is Windows 11. Edit: Here's the solution that worked of me. Open the game file and right click on Engine (Application), select "Properties" then the "Compatability" tab. Select "Run this program in compatability mode for" and select Windows 8. Then select "Reduced color mode" and set it to 16 bit. Click "Apply" at the bottom right and close this. Then left click to open the Engine (configuration settings) file. The second and third lines are the resolution settings. Change the resolution from 800 x 600 to 1024 x 768. Save and close the file. The game launched in full screen without any problem. I've played for more than six hours straight without a crash but as with many old games crashes happen from time to time so save often. But the game launches and runs with these settings for me. As old an outdated as the game is I'm really enjoying it.

My favorite Pirate game
Beaing a pirate isn't easy :) Storms , curses, old family enemys but wort it. I like this game even more then SidM Pirates but somtime its to many pointless fights thats why game is boring aftere few hours of play .

Excellent for the devs first try
This game has rather unique gameplay. At the other hand you are rather limited with the activities. It`s a kind of sandbox you may do whatever you want. However up to the time when you will get 4 rang ship you will already try everything. In that cause, you will need to hunt trade encounters for experience in order to get 3 rang ship & continue the story, but it will last for long hours. This will broke all joy & interest to the game.
