Scorn is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure game set in a nightmarish universe of odd forms and somber tapestry.
It is designed around the idea of "being thrown into the world". Isolated and lost inside this dream-like world, you will explore different interconnected regions in a non-linear fashion. The unsettling environment is a character itself.
Every location contains its own theme (story), puzzles and characters that are integral in creating a cohesive world. Throughout the game you will open up new areas, acquire different skill sets, weapons, various items and try to comprehend the sights presented to you.
GAMEPLAY FEATURES
COHESIVE "LIVED-IN" WORLD Scorn takes place in an open-ended world with different interconnected regions. Each region is a maze-like structure with various rooms and paths to discover. All the storytelling happens in-game, with no cut-scenes to distract you from the grisly reality of the living, breathing world you’re in. But keep your eyes open - the game won’t show you any sympathy if you miss something important on your uneasy travels.
FULL BODY AWARENESS
Players will experience better immersion being aware of the character’s body and movement. Interaction with the world is realistic - objects are picked up with your hands (instead of just floating in midair), machines and instruments are operated by grabbing the controls, etc.
INVENTORY AND AMMO MANAGEMENT
Your loadout is defined and limited. This plays a big role in keeping the player in an even greater state of awareness throughout the whole game. Players will have to think about when to fight and when to take cover and how their actions affect the world around them. Different play styles will be needed to advance.

extremely clunky combat creates the worst artifical difficulty. also, if you start act 5 with too little health, it is impossible to progress since a passive unavoidable source of damage will kill you. save your money.

All the effort was put into the visuals and art style and not so much into the gameplay itself. Disappointing title in my opinion. You might get some enjoyment playing it if you just want to experience some H.R. Giger inspired biomechanical horror.
Scorn is a first-person horror game where you play as an unnamed, skinless humanoid trying to escape a world of fleshy horror and weird architecture. The aesthetic is inspired by HR Giger, an artist who creates biomechanical art, one of the most famous is the Xenomorph from Alien franchise. It succeeded in creating a unique world that's both beautiful and grotesque.
Most of the game plays like a walking sim, where you unlock pathways and solve puzzles. There are also some enemies, which you could kill by using your weapon. Combat is a bit slow and difficult though, don't expect the smoothness of an FPS. You could outrun most of them, but I recommend taking it slow and fight them.
What I mean by the lacking execution is how this game is presented. For starters, there are no dialogue or instructions at all. But I guess it works if you're trying to make a "suddenly thrown in alien world" experience, although I prefer a clearer story and direction. Some of the more difficult puzzles also lack a reset option, forcing you either to load an older save, or push through the confusion.
Personally, I'd still recommend giving Scorn a try. It has a beautiful world and some unique mechanics. Don't be ashamed to consult a guide, without prior knowledge this game could be really confusing.
I could not finish this game. I really tried to push myself to finish it. I was so relieved when I knew I was nearly there! Suddenly my character clipped through the elevator after inserting the 2nd Blood vial and I just lost the will to keep playing (and to live) when I realised the last checkpoint was from 25 minutes ago AND meant i had to do a lot of slow walking and fumbling around again. Sorry Ebb, I really wanted to enjoy the game and the artistry on display is incredible. However, gameplay, slow animations and some absolute bonkers (in a bad way) game design makes for an incredibly unpleasant and unmemorable experience. If this game was strictly just a walking simulator with ~MAYBE~ some light stealth elements I would have thoroughly enjoyed the engrossing world but this game is just constantly at odds with itself.
