Scarlet Hollow

Super fun game! The story is really interesting and it really changes depending on what traits u pick at the beginning..so lots of replay value! The art and music is great, the characters are inclusive and interesting, the writing excellent. Talk with animals?!?! So great.

Got it on steam, the backgrounds are fine but the character art / monster design is pretty mediocre (it kinda takes you out of it). The story so far is ...ok, hopefully it gets better with the new episodes down the line. I can see it getting 3 or even 4 stars if it gets better, but that character art is just so offputting.

This visual novel game has everything: dark mysteries that are fun to theorize about, suspenseful and horrific scenes, lovable and well-crafted characters (and options to romance some), a complex plot that leaves you wanting more. It also has SO MUCH replay value in that you can pick different traits, dialogue options, and choices every time you play—all of which steer you down different pathways. The art is spectacular; the soundtrack is extraordinary. The layers to this incredible game are unparalleled. Also, it’s LGBTQIA+ inclusive! You get to pick pronouns and all romance options are queer (neither just straight or gay), so any sexuality for your MC is welcome. I highly recommend this game and have been eagerly sharing it with anyone I know who may be interested! You won’t regret giving this a shot.

I made the mistake of purchasing this game years ago before reaizing it was only 3 of 7 episodes complete. I played to the "end" and had lots of fun. But that was years ago and the story cuts off abruptly. I imagine they painted themselves into a corner due to too many branching paths that could not be tied together (a.k.a. the GRR Martin affect). Went through my library recently and it's still only 3 of 7 complete. Only buy this game if you love the taste of disappointment and want to be let down
