This Game may contain content not appropriate for all ages or may not be appropriate for viewing at work.
The game works okay but it's mediocre and unsatisfying to play. It's just taking photos of the animals and doing things with them... But it's not polished.
I think there's a lot of potential here. The island has a classic biome simplicity to it, but it also offers fun details and secrets.
I think the developer's biggest challenge is to avoid making the game too grindy. Already, I've seen many people consider the photography (scores) too finnicky, leading to tedium.
Another big concern I have is with performance. I'm sure it will be improved, but there's still a pretty big gap between the actual graphical fidelity and the load on my pc.
Furthermore, the purple moon - arguably one of the most interesting times in the game - sets off a chain reaction of npc spawn and interaction that will eventually lead to massive frame drops and, probably, crashes. That definitely needs to be resolved, before I can call this game playable.
Obviously the game is still a work in progress but it's pertty solid for what it is. Being early access though, I can't really judge it honestly, so I'll just point out a few things I think need immediate fixing.
- Free cam during Monsutra acts is TERRIBLE, the camera controls are extremely finnicky and never seem to go where you want them too. Often times, you will accidentally get the camera stuck underneath the map. Just make it a proper free cam rather than locking it to a buggy 3rd person cam.
- Photo grading seems to be a bit inconsistent. The same angle and distance can be a C- rank one time and then an A- the next.
- Unlocking new Monsutra positions by seeing them in the wild (seems to only work on special event nights) is needlessly tedious.
- Lotion item seems to do nothing
Im enjoying this game tbh, a chill, non-threatening experience, in the vein of Pokemon Snap, but..... mildly horny, great!
But I will say, do more SHOWING and less TELLING. I swear there were 50 pages of tutorial to read in the first 15 min of the game. Let me DISCOVER that the plants might snare me, let me DISCOVER that I might get hunted at night if im not careful, etc.
There has to be a smoother way to introduce the game mechanics, and tighten up the length of the audio logs please. They are WAY too long and interfere with gameplay.
