Saints Row: The Third - The Full Package

When someone's interested in the Saints Row series, I always recommend they start with the third game. It's where the series is both polished and still (mostly) grounded. I've played through the entire game several times since release and still love it. It does away with the seriousness and self-righteousness of GTA, and instead embraces the over-the-top silliness of the genre. This allows each of the characters to be likable and even sympathetic. My only problem with the game is that I don't like all the different kinds of mini-game challenges, so I've never quite 100% it. Fortunately these are all optional.

To date this is the only open-world game of its type (like GTA, etc) that I have actually finished. It was fun from the first mission through to the end. I actually wanted to finish it, rather than feel like I should. Funny, silly, and not serious. Which is what I think we need more of in games. The second mission has you fighting people in a 2 minute long skydive. What's not to love? And do yourself a favor and pick Voice 3 for the male boss. You'll thank me later.

Saints Row always felt too much like a cheap rip off of Grand Theft Auto to enjoy, but Saints Row the Third is where the series begins to set itself apart from other franchises, through less serious, high action gameplay, and far more comedic themes, which in this games case, translates to pure Co-Op fun. Hopefully we'll be seeing Saints Row IV on GOG very soon

If you want to pick this up to play with a friend in coop don't bother. Even though it states LAN connections work they do not.

It seems there's a recent issue with people being unable to hear the car engine sounds/tire screeching sounds. I am one of those people. It seems some people are able to fix this by running VLC Media Player in the background. I am not one of those lucky people. I have run the game in compatibility mode, run as admin, tried both Steam and GOGs version, uninstalled, reinstalled, tried it on my EVGA/Intel PC, then on my ATI/AMD PC, and both have the exact same issue I feel like I'm losing my marbles here, does anyone know how to get the car sounds working on Windows 10?
