Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobble head dolls all available at a store near you.
The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute. Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to Steelport, a once-proud metropolis reduced to a struggling city of sin under Syndicate control.
Take a tank skydiving, call in a satellite-targeted airstrike on a Mexican wrestling gang, and defend yourself against a highly-trained military force using only a sex toy in the most out- landish gameplay scenarios ever seen, igniting a city-wide war that will set Steelport on fire. Strap it on.

terrible controls... specially when your using a game pad. There's no customization to the controls, and forward on the stick on your controller makes you go reverse & vice versa. Not one I would recommend on the PC.
In every way this game is worse than Saints Row 2. Apart from it's port.
The storyline was much worse. The protagonist is portrayed as much stupider and never makes decisions for himself. A far cry compared to how he acted in SR2 where he made all of his decisions. Shaundi acts like a very cold one-note character compared to how she acted in SR2, which is even made fun of in SR4. The villains are underwhelming because the storyline is very nonsensical and has no weight to it. There's nothing to get invested in with the story and as a result you do it just because you have to. Most of the missions are just activities from the main game and there's only a handful of actual story missions.
But the worst part about it was the gameplay and world. The world of Steelport was a huge downgrade compared to SR2. In SR2 all of the mission locations like the Ultor building and the prison were all explorable outside of missions, and had things like collectables and side quests. In Saints Row 3 none of this is the case. All of your safe houses have copied and pasted interiors and there's no interior customization. The gameplay is much more bullet spongey and enemies take a full clip of your assault rifle to kill. When you kill or get rid of a gang leader in the story their gang remains in the city. By comparison in Saints Row 2 when you took out a gang you destroyed their money distribution, took over their territory and killed their leader. It really made you feel like you were actually taking over the city and not just a tourist.
The game also lacks a day-to-night cycle. Which is something SR2 had and every other sandbox game has. They also removed competitive multiplayer.
SR3 just felt really rushed. THQ was losing money and they had to spit this game out. I don't see why people call it the best game in the series. It hasn't aged well only 4 years after release.
If a bunch of mentally disabled 5-year-old TikTokers doped on energy drinks were given control over a developer studio after having heard of GTA from their legal guardians, this is what would be the result: Saints Row 3.
Calling this a game, a fortiori selling this as a game, ought to be criminalized as a punishable offense.
There is no credible or even noncredible but at least consistent storyline, everything is just completely erratic, random, lazy and jumpy. The "city'' makes no sense as an urban structure but is worse than an MS Paint version of the Mona Lisa, rudimentary at best. Lifeless and boring with nothing to do except fighting wave after wave after wave after wave after wave after wave after wave after wave after wave after wave after wave after wave after wave of always the same few generic enemies. Until you either run out of ammo and die, or enter your apartment in plain sight of your opponents. Unless it is a main ''mission'', in which case you progress to the next station of the non-existent ''plot'' regardless of the dozens of shooting enemies around you. Then more rinse and repeat, but closer to the end, which the player has no incentive to reach other than being done with this crap forever. Buying property for passive income is a tedious repetitive chore with absolutely no consequences, irrespective of whether you own the organ market or a garage. The "characters", including your own, have zero identity and development, they are as appealing as mute stick figures with no relationships between them.
Controls were definitely not optimized for PC users, they are a jittery mess and clearly created for consoles. On top of it there are bugs like a disappearing mouse pointer, disappearing driving sounds and the disruption of simultaneity between sound and action.
Absolutely no effort was put into the development of Saints Row 3, it merely capitalized on the demand for GTA clones, but it is not even that. Only a soulless experiment.
