Not all wars are fought on the open battlefield. Download The Saboteur to visit 1940s Nazi-occupied Paris, as you play tough Irish racecar mechanic Sean Devlin. Working with the French Resistance, Sean is out for revenge against ruthless Nazi Colonel Kurt Dierker, who executed Sean’s best friend.

This open-world action thriller takes you through the seedy streets of Paris as you seek to undermine the German authority and lead a rebellion. Fight across rooftops and through dangerous alleys, and operate a wide variety of vehicles as you navigate your terrain. You can even climb the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame Cathedral for a sniping mission.

Use stealth and disguise to strike at the heart of the Nazi war machine by disabling trains, destroying bridges, and blowing up enemy facilities. As you work to remove the oppressive forces from parts of the city, the drab black-and-white palette gives way to bright colors, signifying that you’ve inspired the townspeople. The more you incite the people, the more they’ll aid you by intervening in fights or providing a quick getaway from pursuing Germans. The Saboteur presents a fresh take on World War II and features dramatic cinematic elements. The action and intrigue is yours to experience via download on the PC now.

Key features:

  • First Ever Open-World Paris — Climb the Eiffel Tour, snipe from Notre Dame Cathedral, and brawl on the Champs d’Elysee as you sabotage your enemies. Fight, climb, and prowl through the dark alleys, rooftops, burlesque houses, and seedy streets of the City of Lights — the ultimate playground for the Saboteur.
  • The Art of Sabotage — Being the Saboteur is all about attacking while staying unnoticed. Get your mission intel at underground clubs and cabarets. Eliminate your adversaries with stealth attacks, disguise, distractions, and explosives. Master a variety of weapons, automobiles, and skills to sabotage enemy operations.
  • The Will to Fight — An action-packed experience and thrilling storyline are made even more engaging by an innovative visual style, characters, and the new “Will to Fight” technology. Experience how the city reacts and changes around you as you free it from Nazi oppression. Only you can restore hope and grandeur to Paris.
  • French Resistance Strikes — Call for support from The Underground in the form of getaway cars, weapon deliveries, distractions, and much more.

Best open world game out there

Essentially, The Saboteur is Thief – a stealth/action hybrid – modernized and put to nazi-era GTA Paris. You have freedom to do missions in your own way; in vast majority of cases no one is railroading you to follow a certain path. You can go guns out, all ninja or something in between. After gaining silenced pistol and the perk to sabotage, i.e. plant bombs, without suspicion while disguised the game turns into complete awesomeness. If missions aren't enough, the sheer amount of free play targets (worth dough and impacts e.g. escaping pursuit) is staggering. I also like the certain adultness and rough edges of the game, which seem to missing from modern titles. However, it's not all sunshine and rainbows though: – Console saving system with checkpoints. It works rather well, but when you run out of "easy missions" exploring and causing mayhem to nazis becomes ever more dangerous. – It's from 2009 so graphics, especially draw distance, can be bit so-so. It's not ugly per se, but looks dated. – Odd glitches every now and then – SOME missions are guns akimbo shoot'em ups... – ...especially towards the end of the game. By far the most annoying aspect of the game to me. – Side quests run out: Some areas are essentially not visited unless you go there in free play. – Feels like the devs ran bit out of steam towards the end of the game. Side quests and advancement (only so many perks & guns to find!) essentially stop. Although, end of the final mission is IMO extremely stylish. As far as stars go, I'd say 5- would describe the game best. There are some issues beyond mere age that could have been polished and/or fleshed out with bit more development time. Verdict: Grab it, play it, regret that there can never be a remake due to the game's graphical content....which includes blood, nazis with real swastikas (gasp!) and nudity (double-gasp!)

Unique Game

The saboteur is a very unique game set in a world war 2 setting. The area unlock that goes from black and white, to colored by progressing through story missions is a very cool mechanic in this game. I do have to note though that when initially starting this game you will have to change some graphical settings, in the graphics setup tool provided before starting them game. If however you still run into problems, go to an nvidia control panel (or similar), next go to program settings, select Saboteur.exe and change the max fps to 60, set graphics to 1920x1080 and enable vertical sync if you want.

Decent open world for one time

Open world: 5/5 Setting: 5/5 Controls: 4/5 Characters: 3/5 Graphics: 2/5 Story: 2/5 Game balance: 1/5 Replay value: 0/5 I forgot how bad story was... I also forgot that the weapons are ridiculous here. I play this game because of setting and open world, other parts of the game are much worse.

Awesome game.

What can I say? Driving around Paris, killing Nazis and blowing up stuff, what is not to like? I had a lot of fun playing this game. The quirkiness of the main character's dialogue adds a lot of charm to the game. I wish EA would release a version with improved graphics (which I'd gladly buy) because it does not look great on a 4k monitor. The above doesn't take an iota of how good the game is, and I recommend it.

A hidden gem

This is my favorite open world games of all times. Great setting, tight story, descent shooting, good driving. And the refreshing mechanic, where nazi occupied zones appear in black and white until you liberate the sector is very well implemented.
