Description
Not all wars are fought on the open battlefield. Download The Saboteur to visit 1940s Nazi-occupied Paris, as you play tough Irish racecar mechanic Sean Devlin. Working with the French Resistance, Sean is out for revenge against ruthless Nazi Colonel Kurt Dierker, who executed Sean’s best friend.

This open-world action thriller takes you through the seedy streets of Paris as you seek to undermine the German authority and lead a rebellion. Fight across rooftops and through dangerous alleys, and operate a wide variety of vehicles as you navigate your terrain. You can even climb the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame Cathedral for a sniping mission.

Use stealth and disguise to strike at the heart of the Nazi war machine by disabling trains, destroying bridges, and blowing up enemy facilities. As you work to remove the oppressive forces from parts of the city, the drab black-and-white palette gives way to bright colors, signifying that you’ve inspired the townspeople. The more you incite the people, the more they’ll aid you by intervening in fights or providing a quick getaway from pursuing Germans. The Saboteur presents a fresh take on World War II and features dramatic cinematic elements. The action and intrigue is yours to experience via download on the PC now.

Key features:

  • First Ever Open-World Paris — Climb the Eiffel Tour, snipe from Notre Dame Cathedral, and brawl on the Champs d’Elysee as you sabotage your enemies. Fight, climb, and prowl through the dark alleys, rooftops, burlesque houses, and seedy streets of the City of Lights — the ultimate playground for the Saboteur.
  • The Art of Sabotage — Being the Saboteur is all about attacking while staying unnoticed. Get your mission intel at underground clubs and cabarets. Eliminate your adversaries with stealth attacks, disguise, distractions, and explosives. Master a variety of weapons, automobiles, and skills to sabotage enemy operations.
  • The Will to Fight — An action-packed experience and thrilling storyline are made even more engaging by an innovative visual style, characters, and the new “Will to Fight” technology. Experience how the city reacts and changes around you as you free it from Nazi oppression. Only you can restore hope and grandeur to Paris.
  • French Resistance Strikes — Call for support from The Underground in the form of getaway cars, weapon deliveries, distractions, and much more.

Great time, with workarounds.

I've never played this before so getting to try it through gog has been awesome. A nice blend of assassin's creed and gta with some nazi punchin' to top it all off. Very good Pandemic game! Getting it to work on modern hardware can be a bit of a pain as there's no fullscreen/windowed options and controller inputs are wonky out of the box. So in case: For windowed mode: You'll need to navigate to your config file located by default in C:\Users\[user]\Documents\My Games\The Saboteur\SaveGames\config (this is separate from the install location of your game), open the file, go to the last line that says Windowed and change its value from 0 to 1. Video settings such as resolution and refresh rate can be changed by navigating to your game's install location, scrolling down to "VideoSetup" and running that. Adjust as necessary. For controller, in the same location as VideoSetup, navigate to "InputTemplates.txt" and copy all the text under the 360 Controller section and paste it under the Other Gamepad section. The one issue I was not able to fix when running windowed is that once it's there I can't move it around the screen like I want to, even using keyboard shortcuts. Additionally it takes an extra mouse click outside the window to register you're out of the game if you need to alt+tab to do something else.

Assassin's Creed, with Guns! + XBOX FIX

If you liked Pandemic's Mercenaries, with it's open world destruction and gunplay, as well as Assassin's Creed's vertical and roof platforming this game is for you. !!XBOX CONTROLLER FIX!! - Go to the game folder and edit file InputTemplates.txt - Copy the test under "360 CONTROLLER" - Paste text over the "OTHER CONTROLLER" text. - Now change to lines on the new "OTHER CONTROLLER" text to "NONE" as they appear below: SOLDIER_TURN_LEFT NONE SOLDIER_TURN_RIGHT NONE Copy all the text in this file and paste it over the all the text in the same file located in C:\User\Documents\My Games\The Saboteur\SaveGames\ InputTemplates.txt. This will fix the triggers from spinning your camera and make the controls more responsive.

Not a stealth game

It has the "stealth" tag in the description, which is why I purchased it. There is no way to stealth most of the missions. This is a third person shooter, period. If you want stealth, I would not recommend this title. If you enjoy being shot at by endless waves of Nazis, this is your game.

Unique, but flawed (stealth) action game

I really like this game, the setting and the atmosphere are something special. Although the performance leaves something to be desired. A few glitches here and there, but nothing serious. Gameplay-wise, it's pretty much what you can expect from an old console port. So, if you like a bit of stealth, but mostly shooting your way out of bad situations, this game, with its somewhat cartoonish charm, might be worth a look.

I do not understand the glowing reviews

Bland gameplay, bad writing, cardboard characters, muddy graphics and lighting, unconvincing physics, wooden animations, sloppy gunplay... this isn't the worst game I've ever played, but I can't think of a single thing it does that wasn't done better elsewhere--frequently in a handful of other games. Late XBox 360 is crawling with better sandboxes--my personal preferences run toward Saint's Row, but Mafia is probably a closer tonal and historical fit. L.A. Noir has more satisfyingly clunky driving. For better climbing and parkour, go for anything Assassin's Creed. For stylish WWII-era stealth, there's Velvet Assassin--not a great game, but not so aggressively bland. For better shooting Nazis, choose from any of dozens of shooters. For boring ethnic stereotypes of the Irish, French, or German... did you actually want a recommendation there? In all, this was a frustrating play. The thing is, not a lot of games try to do *all the things all at once*. Which you could laud this game for, if it succeeded at them or the synergies were more than the sum of their parts. Instead I played minigame after minigame where I thought, "Oh, this is just like [XYZ] title... only worse in every way." And then my character would say "let's show them how we do it in the old country!" or another pair of breasts would walk across the screen for no reason or a side character would spout some half-baked anachronistic nonsense. And after some point I could no longer ignore that I was spending my time on the worst possible interpretation of an interesting setting, game style, and story I've seen in a long time. If you're such a huge fan of sandboxes that you've played through all the GTAs and Saints Rows and Prototypes and Mafias and Just Causes and Red Factions and Assassin's Creeds and you STILL. NEED. MORE. ... Well then I still wouldn't recommend it. You'll be disappointed as all of the above games are a significant cut about this twaddle. No complaints about the price nor stability issues. Graphics options not available in-game can be found in a file in the install folder called VideoSetup.exe. Best of luck to you.
