Ruiner

I'm not a huge fan of top-down RPGs, but Ruiner has got me hooked. Pros: -Clean, eye-candy graphics. Some wonderful level design, and a true cyberpunk aesthetic. -Heart-racing gameplay. With enemies surrounding you on every side, half of them shooting at you, you will die a lot. But it's worth it, one you get into the rythm of dancing around while shooting and hacking. Kills feel very satisfying, and the animations are solid. -Excellent music score than keeps pace, and auments your experience rather than taking away from it. Cons: -Story is barebones. All the dialogue is simple, it's only meant to progress the story so you can get back to fighting. -If you don't like dying a lot, this game isn't for you. Luckily, the respawn is fast, and it throws you back into the game a few seconds before you died. This is only a con for anything above easy. It's well worth 20 bucks, and there's tons of replayability here. If you like the cyberpunk feel, this game will give it to you.

A really likeable game, with fast paced action, and interesting story, a good cyberpubk setting, and a fantastic soundtrack. I don't want to give too much detail to not spoil the game, of you like games like Hotline Miami, buy this game, you won't regret it!

Ruiner is a Twin-Stick Shooter and... it's ok. Combat feels good when you kill someone, but the process of getting there with bullet sponge bosses isn't great. Sometimes I wouldn't have been sure I'd hit a boss if not for the giant health bars. Combat got repetive about 3 hours in, the game took 5 hours to complete. The feeling of repetition in combat is also due to fights locking you in arenas for too long with no real danger to you. Kinda torn on whether to recommend this honestly, the main draw is supposed to be the combat and that has its issues. I would still recommend this if you're drawn in by the art style like I was. Just don't expect a story that will satisfy you

Not really a fan of this genre but the game is fine, it's pretty good at doing what it's trying to achieve. If you're into twin stick shooters this is probably the perfect game for you. The Linux version might not be nearly as polished as it could right now but that might change in the future.

Addictive gameplay, cyberpunk setting with a lot of details and atmosphere, stunning design. Unfortunately, the OST is.. meh.
