Locke D'Averam is a Revenant, a warrior-mage resurrected from an earlier age and summoned by a powerful wizard to save the island of Ahkuilon from a mysterious cult. Locke has no memory of his past life, but as he attempts his quest, he slowly remembers the truth... and what really happened to his soul all those years ago.
Released at the turn of the century, Revenant is an Action-RPG in a fantasy setting that offers a compelling narrative and an engaging experience. Locke's journey will take you across Revenant's strange and beautiful world, filled with dungeons and castles, interesting characters and secrets to uncover. What sets Revenant apart from other Action-RPGs of its time is its distinctive combat system, which bring its own unique flavour to the genre, providing an appealing blend of magic and melee combat that doesn't sour into the standard hack-and-slash formula. Despite its age, Revenant still offers an immersive experience that will have you gripped to the very end.
Real-time combat with an arsenal of moves and finishers
Hours of gameplay, with 30 levels of advancement, multiple unique areas to explore and wide variety of weapons and spells at your disposal
A dynamic, action-packed experience that requires tactical thinking, unbreakable resolve and a steady sword to complete
For the year it was released, no true point in the implementation of 3D for an action hack and slash. The result is a game that aged REALLY bad, pixel lines, for a pc game we are talking about a GOG version that runs by default in the slowest resolution, giving a graphic performance worse than a PSX game.
Gameplay can be fun, but we fall in the same issue: stuttering. Game is so bad optimized it can't handle the action of low-poly graphics. My advise would be stay away from this, but you can't say you play games if you dont play the low quality ones.
Hi,
Revenant is a (RPG), with gold (currency), has average graphics and if your looking for a difference on a large screen, then this is it. You maybe able to make graphics better with the (Revenant launcher - choose the directory - double click/open (launcher) - run - revenant - advanced options), it is not really needed, if you get stuck - change/tinker the - (revenant.config.settings file) in the directory (ex: set - Yes to (Software3D), set Detail to (4) or more), I found that the (config.settings.file) works very good and has the launcher advanced options in it anyway. Plenty of configurable keys/mouse/joypad/stick buttons - just be sure not to bind the same keys. Good amount of keys to bind for attacks. Configurables like (Up, Up/Left, Up/Right, Down, Down/Left, Down/Right,
Left, Right) these enable smoother movement directions for the Joypad/Stick. Can also move any direction if you choose to move with a mouse. Configurable keys also for (stats, inventory, map) + many more. Zoom able map. The run key is better performed when bound to a Joypad, hold down button with the directional control circular input. Weapons like, swords, axes, bows + more. Some handy screen (on/off) panels (full screen, bottom, side) at a touch of a button/key. Screens for stats, good character outfit screen, inventory + more. Collect gold, buy & sell items + more. Explore a dangerous island and fight off monsters.
Full voice dialog - making it very entertaining, NPC's voice chatter, music + sound effects. Joystick/pad/keyboard/mouse compatible, choose what to say with a click/button. Freedom of exploration hit.
Overall, a good (RPG), with good options available.

After playing this for maybe an hour or so, I can say that this is a good title, but ruined by unfinished work, glitches, and a stale aftertaste after playing it a bit. How to begin this review, I wonder...
Well, for the good points about it, the controls are simple to get accustomed to, the interface is very nice to work with, and the story is very sound from what I saw. The voice acting is nice, the environments you traverse are well made, that it has lots of promising elements to make you want to play it. But the start is the only good bit of the game you can work with, because after this, the problems arise.
Among a number of minor issues, the game goes stale with repetitive dungeon "mazes", the difficulty shoots up to a level so immensely punishable that you have to think of what you did to the game to deserve it treating you like this, and then there are glitches that can cause considerable issues with playing it. I got so fed up, that I just discontinued immensely with the game.
Overall, its a not a bad game, but you may have to consider if you can put up with the issues to play through it. If not for these issues, I think it might have just been a good game amongst the likes of Diablo for example.
