There is only one thing on the planet that you do not control: mankind, with all their virtues and and all their vices. You can shape their world, but not their will. Provide for them and they may thrive. Give them too much and their greed may get the upper hand.

Truly unique god-game

You start small. Very small. With only few options to create something. A 3-stage tutorial tells you everything you gotta know, but believe me: Reus is easy to learn, but hard to master. You terraform the planet, create animals, plants and minerals on the patches of land into which the planet is divided. This attracts settlers. They build villages and special buildings. Every special building needs other things, so you use your 4 giants and their abilities to fulfill these requirements and the villages reward you with ambassadors. These ambassadors unlock new abilities for your giants. And then....you are either totally addicted to this puzzler/godgame like me or not. You have to play game after game after game, each one gives you new developments to unlock and improves your possibilities to form the planet. So: if you are looking for a truly exotic mix of puzzler/godgame with nice graphics and a gameplay that I'm pretty sure is totally unique, buy this game and have a lot of fun with it. If not, you are missing a true indie gem.

Not kind of developers you must support

First and most important ( in case of this game) - do not expect any support for this game if you going to pay for this game. Its totally not GOG fault, but developers of this game have, literally, no interest in it anymore, along with purchasers. They still keep it up today on well known "S" service, but "too busy" to do that on DRM-free ones like GOG or Humble. Its taken months of whining and to keep asking on Steam and developer own forums to update game and in the end they released updated version here for Windows. Still no interest shown to release MacLin one. In Humble game builds not updated for two years and nobody cares, developer says they "maybe" update it (Game you paid money for). Figure it yourself. Now, as for game itself its cartoonish kind-of God simulator filled with micromanagement. Its not really bad game at all, but its not live up to expectations of most who anticipated it and its certainly not THAT great for developers to be so cocky

Not a god game per se

But a wonderful puzzle game really. It's all about combining tiles with "spells" and combinations to get the resources your towns want. Very engrossing. Very entertaining. Hours of fun to be had. Perfect on a Sunday afternoon with a cup of tea.

An alchemy puzzler heavy on memorization

Reus is like Terraria, if Terraria were about running between crafting stations to craft item after item before the egg timer at each station went off. You must meet randomly selected development goals by putting plant, animal, and mineral resource tiles in the right symbiotic combinations within a time limit. This requires memorization and some luck. Development goals are tied to individual villages. Each village has a rigid tile range. This range grows but, to meet all but the most basic goals, you must upgrade tiles. You get a preview of available upgrades for a given resource tile. What you CANNOT get in game AFAIK is information about which sympathetic tiles an upgrade requires. You only care about the attributes of a tile. So while the game is telling you that your frog tile may become an iguana tile that gives more wealth, what you /really/ need to know is that an iguana tile really only gives more wealth when it's next to a mineral tile. This is a problem for you since you've already surrounded your frog tile with the Elderberry plant tiles that it prefers, and your rock titan is on the other side of the planet at the moment. The game does link to a game wiki, so I guess you can tile your windows. There are other aspects to the game, but this review is too long.

Unsupported outside of Steam?

This is not a good review, but I'm just noting that the game doesn't seem to get patches outside of Steam. I wouldn't support the dev Anywhere before they get their act together on this. It's a nice game tho, so is their newest game I hear, but I just can't just overlook this kind of behavior.
