Resonance is a joint effort between Wadjet Eye and xii games. It's been five years in the making, and it's without-a-doubt their longest and most ambitious game to date. This gem is made by gamers for gamers, and you can clearly see that in almost every element of the game. From the polished and intuitive interface, through well balanced puzzles, all the way to the fun and gripping story, you can tell that xii games knows how to get the job done right. So if you are an old-school adventure game fan then this game should scratch all the old-skool gaming itches you’ve been feeling while delighting you with its innovations and story.
  • Twisting and riveting storyline that you experience from four different perspectives as freely swap between all the main characters to solve puzzles and progress through the game.
  • Unique long-term and short-term memory system that creates new possibilities to solve puzzles and uncover mysteries.
  • Intuitive interface makes for one of the best adventure gaming experiences you’ll get.
  • All the love and care you’ve come to expect from the developer of such classics as Gemini Rue and the Blackwell series.

Way overated, very frustrating game!

I was very disappointed with this game, I love p&c adventure games and I generally have almost infinite patience when it comes playing them, the harder the better, but I found Resonance very frustrating, it's not the difficulty, it's the shear tedium of menus, when you open a menu to ask a question, they auto close and you have open them again, question after question, soooo slow! It's very easy to get stuck in the game and all it takes is one missed question (that provides a vital clue) which you didn't save and ask one of the four characters you end up controlling and the game grinds to a halt and then it's back to the tedium of menus again! There also some plain stupid things in the game, for instance, you can left click on a folder and be told something like, 'I can't pick that up' for whatever reason, but if you right click on the folder you can view the contents, WTF! I'm not going to rant on, suffice to say I can't be bothered to finish the game as I found nothing pleasurable about it.

Adventure design at its worst.

Adventure design at its worst. You simply can't play this without a walkthrough. The puzzles are so non-intuitive that you can run around in circles for hours and you still don't get it. The story is mediocre at best. I'm surprised that Wadjet slipped up this bad. Compared to their other games like Gemini Rue and Primordia this just doesn't cut it. I was able to play through both games without a walkthrough and they have a waaaay better story. Pick them up instead and forget this miserable piece of gunk. Sorry for the 1 star but I just hate this game: it is completely unplayable.

an utter letdown

I really wanted to love the game since I am infatuated with point and click and basically everything by Wadjeteye. But what a letdown this is turning out to be. According to the score I'm rather half-way through it and neither feel engrossed not am I enjoying it. The 4 character system mostly adds bother instead of excitement, their interactions are not crafted well and the whole game feels counterintuitive at best. Sad disappointment by a great company.

An amazing game, but with a minor flaw

Wadjeteye exceeded themselves again with Resonance, and this is truly an(other) homage to the point and click adventure games of old by those guys. The story is stellar, the puzzles are never too easy and never get unforgivably hard, the characters actually *resonate* with you, emotionally. The one thing I found frustrating is the new "Short Term Memory" system, in which you drag scenery items in order to have conversations about them... while this sounds cool at first, most STMs are red herrings, and I could have gone without it, since most things you put in STM won't even help you progress -- the obvious two or three that are required aside. Plus, if it's true that some point and click adventure gamers have this "try everything on everything, everywhere", the STM system becomes a huge waste of time. Still, a minor flaw in an otherwise stellar game, by a team that is determined to show everyone the point and click adventure game is far from dead. If you like classic adventure games, you owe yourself this one, so just pick it up, already.

Timed stuff is bad

This is the only Wadjet Eye Game I did not enjoy. I've tried to play it a few times over the years, and every time I get "stuck" on the fact that you need to do things *quickly*, and after dying ten times it gets tedious. Maybe I'm old, and just not fast enough. I like to play adventure games with a cup of coffee on the sofa for enjoyment. It's a small and perhaps stupid thing, but it really sucks the fun out of it for me, so I just give up 🤷
