Resonance is a joint effort between Wadjet Eye and xii games. It's been five years in the making, and it's without-a-doubt their longest and most ambitious game to date. This gem is made by gamers for gamers, and you can clearly see that in almost every element of the game. From the polished and intuitive interface, through well balanced puzzles, all the way to the fun and gripping story, you can tell that xii games knows how to get the job done right. So if you are an old-school adventure game fan then this game should scratch all the old-skool gaming itches you’ve been feeling while delighting you with its innovations and story.
Twisting and riveting storyline that you experience from four different perspectives as freely swap between all the main characters to solve puzzles and progress through the game.
Unique long-term and short-term memory system that creates new possibilities to solve puzzles and uncover mysteries.
Intuitive interface makes for one of the best adventure gaming experiences you’ll get.
All the love and care you’ve come to expect from the developer of such classics as Gemini Rue and the Blackwell series.
Decent adventure, the puzzles are all logical and of generally high-quality. I didn't like the way the story developed, that's why it only gets four stars from me. But the gameplay is very good.
Overall nice at the start nice combination of magic and reality, acting together. most solutions are logical. But puzzle with boxes and printing the document is extremely hard.
You need to draw 22x26 boxes (as I remember) to correctly select the one. And you can't use the solution because the position it randomly selected at the start.
I'm not really close to quest to say that I'm fan of them but this puzzle with boxes is more than extremely frustrating and looks worse than hard work.
Loved the game. Solid writing and voice acting. Some really lovely puzzles too. Interesting story worth experiencing. Now that I've finished it, I'm very curious to know the things that I missed on my first playthrough.
Highly recommended.
As someone who is not that good at adventure games, along with the fact that many of them have puzzles obscure beyond belief, I was relieved with this one. It presents itself in a way that is true to the form and would have felt natural had you been playing it in 1995. However, many aspects of the interface, story, sound, etc. put it a cut above the typical adventure game, providing an enjoyable take on the genre. Personally, I don't mind what some consider its "shortness" since I don't want to spend my life gaming anyway. It's a nice little bit o' fun.
How to define the experience at playing Resonance? A REAL GAME EXPERIENCE, that's it.
Characters-driven brilliant story, innovative and polished gameplay, good replaybility (rare stuff in graphic adventures).
Funny and unique in terms of style, Resonance is a pure gem of entertainment.
Adventures won't be disappointed at playing it!
