A week from a Redneck's life:

Deer Diary:

Munday: Well, we crash-landed that UFO in the desert and Bubba says he wants to go home. Heck, I don't blame him 'cause there ain't no place like Hickston. But according to my map, we're gonna have to blast our way through jack o' lope farms and a riverboat as well as a brothel (Bubba can't wait) 'fore we get home again.

Toosday: Met new folks like Daisy Mae (she's purty). Bikers, pigs, cows and jack o' lopes. I think I even saw the King at the Slurp n' Burp.

Winsday: Yeehaw! Got to joyride in a Swamp Buggy and a motorcycle that were both armed to the teeth. I hope those peoples I ran over will be alrite. I still got a darn jack 'o lope stuck in the grill though.

Thersday: New ways to destroy stuff! I found over 10 weapons like a crossbow that shoots dynamite-loaded chickens and a slingblade. Mmmm-Hmm!
Fri-day: Sure am hungry! I just need some good ol' redneck powerups like pork rinds, cow pies and some of my granpappy's moonshine!
Saterday: Boy I sure so like those toe tapping tunes by that good ol' boy Mojo Nixon.
Sunday: Heck! With all the new places we been, I sure wish my kinfolk could've come along for the ride!

Want to experience more than just a week? Then take a dip into the Redneck's world of floating whiskey and widespread pork rinds. The crazy adventure continues through Redneck Rampage, Redneck Rampage Rides Again: Arkansas and Redneck Rampage: Suckin' Grits on Route 66. Now all three games bundled together.

But wait, there's more! For those curious about the Redneck language you can download and install "Cuss Pack" add-on (follow the readme.txt file for instructions).
  • Includes Redneck Rampage, Redneck Rampage Rides Again: Arkansas and Redneck Rampage: Suckin' Grits on Route 66
  • Heal your wounds with alcohol and battle aliens redneck-style!
  • Visit famous sites like Area 51 or Route 66 and kill those damn aliens

Will also run under Linux...read on

This is a good entertainer albeit a bit depressing sometimes as you encounter a procession of dark scenes. You have to use yer' head to solve some puzzles an' ya' git' not a lotta help. Have and original copy of this game, was never copy protected; but took a long time to get my copy outta' an old ZIP drive. This game will work under Linux. My distro Mageia 7, 7.1 machine Intel core i7 7770, 64GB ram, and about several terabytes of hard drive space amongst several operating systems. drawer mounted USB and SATA drives, even IDE for the old stuff. Install Wine and Redneck works fine. Wine creates your own special ersatz drives of any cap you want and/or have to spare. It has no problem running the game except various video glitches that do not take away. I am finally happy to have this gem of a game running in my linux machines finally again. Moved here from out in the wild east some years ago and been happy building computers here on my ranch ever since. There exist quite a few cheats, and some websites will share them with you

Redneck Rampage

On a revisit after many moons (pies?) :p Just wish they did a proper remaster like most of the other build games!

Janky and quirky but still worth a go!

Redneck Rampage is a dark horse of Build games. Not as great as Duke3D, Blood and Shadow Warrior but nos as awful as Tekwar. Made by Xatrix (known for Kingpin and Cyberia before becoming Treyarch of MoH fame), you play as Leonard, a redneck from Hickston, Arkansas, whose prize pig Bessie got stolen by aliens. You then grab your gun and crowbar and go on a quest with your brother Bubba, who acts as the level exit. You'll have to scrounge around various levels and kill the clones and troops left by the aliens. You'll use a very redneck arsenal: revolver, scattergun, TNT (crossbow), AK47 dubbed "huntin' rifle", sawblade launcher (which doubles as a chainsaw) and 2 alien weapons: the arm gun (a cannon you can get by asploding the hulks, which prevents them from reviving) and the teat gun (a bra-shaped heavy machine gun). To heal, drink cheap whiskey and beer, eat pork rinds and cowpies, but don't get your gut and alcohol meters in the red or you'll get sick, to lower them, use toilets or get high on moonshine (think Duke's 'roids). You can also take a leak and yell to heal just a little bit. The level design is extremely confusing because it tries to be realistic (swamp village, small town, mortuary and so on), which means all keys look the same and are hard to spot in sprawling maze-like levels, with stuff so well hidden it's a pain to guess. Yet it's brilliant in its use of the Build engine. Also damage is unbalanced (too much RNG) and the game demands peek-a-boo tactics since almost everything is hitscan. The humour is crass and the often creepy (using redneck cliches)and the music doesn't always fit within the game. Yet it fits with the mood, it's an underground comic game. Having the complete pack for this price is worth it, because it's very unique. It shows Xatrix's knack for complex yet janky design . Rides Again (the sequel) adds new weapons new enemy skins and a bike (and much more jank), and Route 66 is Sunstorm's genius at work. Runs great with BuildGDX.

Worth it for the soundtrack alone

I bought this straight away when I found out it came with a downloadable version of the soundtrack. Because if you ain't got Mojo Nixon then your game could use some fixin'.
