Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville is a strategy sim game with a good helping of narrative and dark humor. It's a thoughtful game that'll make you fond of your survivors before you send them to their deaths for the greater good. As you expand your fort to new buildings, you'll decide between farms or fortifications, housing or hospitals, and make tough decisions to fend off raiders, illness, starvation, and madness. And the dead are still out there wandering the streets, hungrier than ever.
Gangs of Deadsville is the third of Sarah Northway's Rebuild series, and the first one available as a full PC downloadable. It's a totally new, much bigger game than the first two.

I liked the first two web versions and like this version as well. I miss being able to reinforce malls and wish I could build warehouses. I mean, I can build a functioning hospital but not a large storage structure?
Still, I enjoy it with the exception of the story mode. It's too long and, in terms of the best ending, too dependent on luck.
If you have played the flash games, this will barely hold any surprises for you. You reclaim territory, take care of the needs of you people and murder a lot of zombies.
There is a story mode implemented into the game, but it quickly turns repetitive and dull, where no actual new mechanics or interesting story elements are introduced. The entire story mode can bu summarized in new town -> reclaim X number of territories -> deal with the other factions.
TL;DR If you liked the flash games and want more of the same, this is a good choice. If you are looking for new, surprising mechanics, or an interesting story you can miss out on it.
Still, for what it does it is an amazing game.
The story is very good and solid, I find this game was well worth what I paid on sale and I could see someone with more money getting it at full price.
This game is a huge improvement of the last game, which I found frustrating at times, despite how much I played it.
The story sucks you in, the other factions are interesting, I like how there is more resources and more stuff to trade, the dumb level 10 cap is gone, you can finally be a socialist dictator, and overall this game is the last one but squared....It's a whole order of magnitude better.
I think I wish they made an expansion or something.
Rebuild 2 was incredible, but Rebuild 3 is not as much fun for me. Many interesting additions have indeed been added though, and it sounds like those who love the new game play on a more difficult setting than I played.
One thing that bugs me is how many skills each character has. When skills are unlocked, it's monotonous to pick each one. And you can't see the happiness of each character when a skill upgrade is available. I would skip adding skills if not for that. Also, having to monitor happiness is a drag.
And winning favour with another faction is boring, monotonous.
So, while it is very interesting to see how the Rebuild series has grown, for example the story elements, quests, factions; I didn't enjoy Rebuild 3 as much as I remember enjoying Rebuild 2. I likely also played Rebuild 1.
I suppose for me, simplicity can be more enjoyable; but I do appreciate the developers' quality work.
Rebuild 3 is great. The campaign is great. Also just doing random city maps and custom games is great. The strategy from city to city is great. The resource management is actually fun and not aggravating like in many other zombie/apocalypse/survival games. I backed this game and have put many, many hours into it and I will still keep playing it.
