Description
And through the Kickstarter gauntlet we have arrived. Yes, we have a procedurally-generated universe to explore. Yes, we have eye-gogglingly gorgeous vector-based gameplay coupled with particle effects so effortlessly effervescent that you won't have time to wonder if "effortlessly effervescent" means anything coherent. And yes, we have noises and musical moods that take a warm soapy sponge to your brain and massage it into cerebral splendor.

BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THAT!!!

You're too busy crafting the perfect vessel, a spaceship pristine and precise and, perhaps, powerful, agile, and envy-inducing. Your shapes and colors will induce both fear and wonder into the electronic hearts of whatever insectoid, angley, squarish, plantlike race of alien ships that you come across in your digital safari.

And then you grow. And it changes everything. Now your left wing must become your right wing in a lopsided arrangement of fancy new weaponry and mega-buffed shields. You recall thinking when you last were destroyed (and you will be destroyed), that you really needed to buff up that armor. Right? Definitely.

And then you grow again. And again. And now you're a battleship capable of producing your own fleet, and each member of your fleet can spawn it's own fleet, and you need it. Your enemies are constantly changing shapes, sizes, and intensities as ships created and honed through the experience of a thousand battles find their way from their creator's computer to yours, leaping into your universe with all the mercy in the world of NONE AT ALL.

It's time to visit the electronic tide pool.

Sandbox Creative RTS w/ Arcade Elements

An excellent game for open ended creativity, where you can optimize fleets of unique ships that you create with an assortment of weapons, thrusters, and other components. Every piece is simulated physically and interact thoroughly with each other. You will lose yourself creating and optimizing ships to meet your unique vision of performance and aesthetic. The graphics are simplistic and it has only one background synth-tune which serves as background. The game does not suffer from this. You can freely switch between building, arcade style flight of a single ship, 4X (lite), or RTS modes of play. The AI is quite decent. One of the true joys is that maps are in part populated by unique fleets created by other human players. For those who like a creative challenge and have an OCD itch to scratch, this game is a real gem.

Stupid bug ruins the game

Gameplay is a straightforward affair. There are about two modes (disregarding Sandbox): Tournament where you can pit creations (ships or fleets of ships) against each other in a tournament, they will get controlled by the computer. & the main singleplayer all-out war for territorial control of the galaxy (which is tedious to achieve but you can hop to another galaxy with more difficult enemies in it at any time at Wormholes). Apart from making progress regarding territorial control (driving off and killing any opposition) the only other progress is unlocking other factions (which is done by killing ships of those of a certain power-level, which is a point pool for the bricks they consist of) which is quickly done and in each game to gather credits (you can turn resource points into credits) to unlock the more powerful building bricks for your faction and increasing the potential power-level of your own ship. This also will is more on the tedious side. The game would still have something to like if it were not for a serious flaw in the ship building system: There is a super cumbersome way to stack building blocks denser (more closely together) than the editor was initially intended to allow for that players found out and, because it never got fixed and gives tremendous advantages to ships utilizing this, has gotten abused the hell out of. Since this is a SP game this would not need to be bad however it ruins one aspect that otherwise would have benefited the game. The wormholes also act as potential upload points for your fleet (designs you saved in that run basically) and any such uploaded fleet has the potential to show up in other players' games as so called "agent" fleets. If you play with these on you will have to deal with ships that are at an utterly huge advantage because they have been built with that dumb stacking bug in the editor. Otherwise this would have been quite cool. Sadly, nothing has been done about that stupid bug. game here gets neglected

lovely space aquarium

great game. build your own fleet and upload it through the portal for others to fight against. Only negative point is that when i designed a ship that kicked evry bodies ass , by giving missles extra speed by spinning they blocked it for no reason at all. later it was allowed again but at that time many copycats had emerged. so build ure own spaceships and see how they fare against other designs. great pass time but dont take too serious.

Fun! Gets better with time

For me, designing the ships and changing them often is the most fun part of the game. To start with, you don't have the resources to build really big and powerful ships, but it is already fun at that point. As you progress, your designs become more powerful and successful. There is a real strategy to ship design in this game. I like to build my ship out from a sort of core ship deep inside. When you get the outer parts blasted away you can speed off to safety with a small one, and regenerate where it is safe. I'm at a point now in my current game where my best ship is less than half the size of the enemy's bigger ones, but I can rip them apart very quickly, it's a blast.
