Realms of Arkania 3

Yeah. That hard. But the game really is cold and harsh. Can't remember how many times my party broken down or destroyed over diseases and hunger, just as much as beaten over combat due to miscalculated strategy. The story is the only thing that kept me going. It's worth all the hardships, like you really did the adventure yourself. I remember picking up ROA 1+2 back in High School about 22 years ago. Took me MONTHS to complete both, and when I got my hands of the 3rd installment, I didn't get the chance to finish it as so many things happened those days--college, girlfriend, job, parents, the usual. Now when it finally comes at GOG (the 3rd), I'm still not sure to be able to complete it--especially if I play straight, no cheating and all that. Gotta cheat like shit this time if I ever want to come back to my job everyday during which. TSearch comes in handy for that. I'm in it just for the story. Here goes nothing. Once more into the breach!

a step back from my beloved part 2 where you could go travelling anywhere on the huge over overland map. here in part 3 the story plays in riva for most of the time. still a nice and nostalgic rpg with good quests and nice graphics for a small german studio at that time. anyways guido henkel later made planescape torment and more... i was always wondering, because in german witcher series "geralt of rivia" is called "geralt von riva", if there was any connection between geralt von riva and the city of riva here ;)

This is a relatively obscure and massively underrated RPG game. This is the 3rd incarnation of Realms of Arkania 3 where you no longer travel like in the previous games but instead you're stuck in one huge city called Riva. The story absolutely incredible. Is one of the best RPG stories. The entire game is quite well written and has incredibly good plot and character development. Various random events and party members dialogue make it feel so much more alive. You will uncover sinister plots, befriend vampires, travel underwater, miniaturize to enter small places, summon or kill deamons, discover horrific human experiments and much more. It features an obscure RPG System that at the time only existed in german called Das Schwarzen Auge or DSA for short kind of a german D&D. I think right now since 2nd edition has been translated into English but the version in this game I think is first edition which for me is better is simpler. DSA Is set in the world of Arkania. Is a kind of high fantasy European/Germanic/Nordic world populated by orks, evil wizards, good magicians, drunken craftsmen dwarves, pirates, seafaring Thorwalians, ice and forest elves, witches and warlocks etc. The main appeal of DSA is that is much more gritty and realistic. You have both positive and negative attributes and you roll every time you level every skill.

This game sucks. It's really truly awful. From the bloated character creation that forces you to reroll for hours, to the awful combat system, and unbearable mazes, puzzles, and fights that will make you groan (and not in a good way)... I cannot recommend this game to anybody but the most masochistic. And yes, I played all the way to the end. I complained the entire time - my wife is tired of sick and tired of me... This game took many hours and weeks of my time. And I didn't stop playing until I won. The music was anywhere from great to nails on chalkboard, the challenge was satisfying at times, and I invested too much time to want to quit. If you do play this game, make sure that you understand how terrible it is. You might even like it! Truly an accomplishment if you can muster up the tenacity and patience like I did. I feel proud, and now I need a very very very long bubble bath :(

I haven't played english version at all but in my country Finland 1997-1999 There was sale on Finnish dubbed on this wonderful game Attic Software & Euromedia Software Voice Acting=Finnish Text=Finnish 10/10 Review Voila I would like to see this game added Finnish version too To all those fellow gamers / Pelaajat Suomesta =) Et päästäisiin pelaamaan uudelleen lapsuuden aikojamme XD
