Railroad Tycoon 2 Platinum

Ah, long time no play. It was a pleasure to start another campaign on RT2 after all this time. And, yes, I'm playing it on a Mac, using Paralells Desktop with Win10 installed. No problem whatsoever.

I played this game 20 years ago on the playstation and loved it, but I can't get it to run now. I tried some different compatibility options and running it as administrator, but results don't change. I get a glitchy opening cutscene, once I skip that some of the buttons appear out of a black background. If I wait long enough to click on, for example, the "single player" and campaign buttons, it will eventually crash. I have Win 7 64-bit. I read that some people have managed to run the game on 32-bit computers and by using the original CD they have somehow gotten the game to work on Win 7 64-bit.

The game's interface doesn't really let you manage anything well and the economy model is pretty opaque. You will know which trains bring in profit and which don't but getting to know why is not an easy task.

A lot to read and learn on system and function. And the game itself is not very informative. I haven't see any game crashing bug yet ,however. So I'm giving 3 stars because the game take time to learn it.
