Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
I mostly remember these games from the glory 1980's coin-up machines on the local grill. Everytime I had some money I always H A D to play these games :-)
Now i'ts Great to see those games here at GOG.com :-)
My jaw hit the ground when I saw this available at gog.com. A completely unexpected surprise.
This collection of Raiden titles is by far one of the best I have played. Each game plays impeccably well in this PC version and the HD soundtrack really gets the heart pounding.
I am playing this using a wireless Xbox 360 gamepad (the gamepad option is available via the in-game menu) and the movement is very accurate.
The only thing that seems to be missing (or perhaps I just haven't found the right key) is the option to add more lives once you run out. Not a bad thing but a little odd. Perhaps someone will be kind enough to clarify.
It's a great collection and once you power-up your laser lasso you'll be hooked. If you like shmups you've got to get this collection.
I used to play Raiden when i was a kid & i fell in love with game from then. One of the all time best game that i have played . You will never get bored playing this ^O^
Your ship is slow, you have an enormous hitbox, bombing does not grant you temporal invincibility, enemy bullets are extremly fast and are fired from the strangest angles, and dying makes you lose all your powerups. Also, you only get 2 credits.
Dodging is near impossible, in order to beat the game you have to rely on trial and error and memorize a lot of things and stay in the optimal path.
Such gameplay is dated and simply not fun. The problem it's not the difficulty: I have beaten with 0 continues shmups as Stella Vanity, AeroFighters, Jade Penetrate or Leiria Stargazer.
The problem is the way that difficulty is implemented. Modern shmups require a 80% of skill and a 20% of memory, but these Raiden games need 20% skill and 80% memory.
If you are into modern shmups, stay away from this.
