Description
Are you feeling adventurous, Hero? The world of Gloriana, with all its wonderful diversity, awaits you. In this pack of five classic Sierra adventure games you will create your character (a warrior, thief, or magic user) and set out on a grand journey for fortune and fame! You will solve quests and puzzles, fight monsters, and save innocents.

In the Quest for Glory pack, which contains all five parts of the classic action RPG games by Sierra, you create your own character, choose his class and abilities and then set out on your grand voyage. Quest for Glory games are universally acclaimed as one of the best adventure games ever developed. After completing a part, you can import your character into the next one, keeping your skills and some special rewards you've hoarded, like magic items.

The story is another of the Quest for Glory series' strong points. It's very solid and immersive, with a light-hearted and humorous narrative that will keep you glued to the screen throughout each of the five installments.
  • Includes both: VGA and original version of Quest for Glory 1.
  • Venture across five huge worlds, each based on a different culture and mythology, from Germanic fairy tales, through Arabian and Slavic folklore, right down to Greek mythology.
  • Three starting character classes to choose from (fighter, magic user, and thief). This decision not only modifies the gameplay but also the story, providing for excellent replayability.
  • You can transfer your character from one game to the next. The skills and wealth you worked for so hard are not lost!

Where my adventure began...

Back in the late '80s-early '90s, I cut my teeth on Sierra, LucasFilm and Jordan Mechner (that 2D Prince of Persia is still among the best games in the series. But I digress). Hero's Quest I/Quest for Gory I was the very first RPG/adventure-type game that i ever played. Five minutes in and I was hooked. Some of my happiest memories come from experiencing the games in the QFG series. When Quest for Glory IV ended, and V was not yet even a glimmer on the horizon, I remember hoping they would make a fifth game to put a delightful cap on this hero's journey. In a lot of ways, QFG5 is the weakest game in the series, though I must give credit where it's due to the Coles and to Chance Thomas, the composer of the game's soundtrack. Every year or so, I will journey back to Gloriana (the world, if I remember rightly, where the games are set), and it's like I never left. The QFG series, among others of that period are like coming home to an old friend.

So many great memories

The very first computer game I ever bought was Quest for Glory III. I remember Dad taking me to, I think, Best Buy and looking through the games and picking that one out because of the cool cover art. Honestly, the game itself was kinda short (nowadays I can beat it in probably <4 hours) and the thief character class is severely limited, but it's still a classic. We took it home and it took FOREVER to install because it was on 5 floppy disks (I think QFG IV actually had 9 plus the patch) but once we started playing I was hooked. There's suspense, thrills, adventure, talk about diversity, Sanford and Son. So many great memories. And then we bought QFG IV which is a much better game, and QFG V which is better still. Any small issues I have with QFG III now that I'm older are not present in QFG IV and QFG V which are damn near perfect games. But I'll never be able to recreate the feeling of playing through QFG III for the first time on that old PC. We had to make a boot disk to play it, lol. Thank you Sierra for such an incredible series of games. I swear that if I ever get some time I am going to try to make an iPad version of this game.

Quest for Glory 5

I have unfortunately not played the previous games in the serie but Quest for Glory 5 was a great game. I just hope they add the soundtrack because the silmarian nights track is great.

Great game with great support!

I speedrun this game series, and I only started speedrunning this game because I fell in love with it years ago. Among Sierra games, this one is one of the more forgiving ones, but it certainly challenging enough. Play a Fighter and solve puzzles one way. Play a Wizard and solve them a different way. Play a Thief and sneak around solving puzzles. Want a Fighter with Stealth? No problem; but that at the start! Want a Thief with Magic? No problem; but that at the start! The Developers, Corey and Lori Cole, are fantastic as well. :) I totally recommend this game. If there was a sixth star, it would have seven.
