Description
Are you feeling adventurous, Hero? The world of Gloriana, with all its wonderful diversity, awaits you. In this pack of five classic Sierra adventure games you will create your character (a warrior, thief, or magic user) and set out on a grand journey for fortune and fame! You will solve quests and puzzles, fight monsters, and save innocents.

In the Quest for Glory pack, which contains all five parts of the classic action RPG games by Sierra, you create your own character, choose his class and abilities and then set out on your grand voyage. Quest for Glory games are universally acclaimed as one of the best adventure games ever developed. After completing a part, you can import your character into the next one, keeping your skills and some special rewards you've hoarded, like magic items.

The story is another of the Quest for Glory series' strong points. It's very solid and immersive, with a light-hearted and humorous narrative that will keep you glued to the screen throughout each of the five installments.
  • Includes both: VGA and original version of Quest for Glory 1.
  • Venture across five huge worlds, each based on a different culture and mythology, from Germanic fairy tales, through Arabian and Slavic folklore, right down to Greek mythology.
  • Three starting character classes to choose from (fighter, magic user, and thief). This decision not only modifies the gameplay but also the story, providing for excellent replayability.
  • You can transfer your character from one game to the next. The skills and wealth you worked for so hard are not lost!

A hero is wanted

One of the best mixes of poind-and-click adventure and RPG. Different player classes and different ways of solving situations. RPG-like stats, with combat and beautiful story and amazing characters. Will give 4 stars only because of the 5-th installment. nobody needed the 3D at the time ;)

Quest for Awesome

To start off, Sierra games are awesome. They had a prime when they hid the Quest games. This is one of the first games I played for my PC. The music, effects and overall story sucked me right in. This is a gem!

Wonderful, Funny, Addictive

Of all of the Sierra "Quest" games, QfG (or "Hero's Quest" as it was originally named) stood out. It offered the standard screen-based adventure system, but was the first to roll in RPG elements like combat and stats. You also got to choose your class, instead of being issued a single option for completing the game, you were allowed to choose between Fighter, Magic-User, and Thief. And the solutions to the puzzles changed with each character: A thief might have to climb up to retrieve an object whereas a magic user would fetch-spell the item down. But my fondest memory of the series was the absurdist humor. The writers were fans of Monty Python and the Marx Brothers, as well as classic films, and it showed. For example, you might find yourself having drinks with characters from Casablanca in The Dead Parrot Bar. Or have your trek through the forest interrupted by Groucho Marx strutting by. The maniacal attention to detail will actually have you seeking out weird ways to kill your character in the game, or seeing just how many different conversation trees the Coles ended up writing. Not to say that the game offered only zany humor and hack-and-slash monster-killing, it also could also offer a pixelated, VGA tug at the heartstrings. Restoring hope to a woman turned into a tree, putting a drowned soul to rest, or returning a cursed vampire to life to be with her parents... there are some moments in these games that are quite touching. What this adds up to is a solid five games (the third one was a little bit on the dry side, but still a Good Old Game) with great writing and continuity, and a must-have for anyone who enjoys RPG adventure games and wants to see where it all started.

Timeless, fun adventure.

This is one of my favorite Sierra series. It runs mostly like the Kings Quest and Space Quest games, similar controls, but there was a different feel to it. It had a wonderful balance between character modification choices, different approaches to each encounter, exploration, story and mystery. It also had a memorable balance between fun, lighthearted humor, and some dark themes and overtones. It was also great at letting you transfer characters from previous games. Many of the elements previously mentioned were present in this series before in many other games. Now a days they are common, but I sure enjoyed it when it first came out. I loved the fact that they had updated the first one, and I wish the second one would have been updated as well. Also wish they would have ported them to Mac. My PC is currently dead. Darn, still have the saved games from QE5 in it. All in all, it's a wonderful series, and fun as hell to play.
