Description
Are you feeling adventurous, Hero? The world of Gloriana, with all its wonderful diversity, awaits you. In this pack of five classic Sierra adventure games you will create your character (a warrior, thief, or magic user) and set out on a grand journey for fortune and fame! You will solve quests and puzzles, fight monsters, and save innocents.

In the Quest for Glory pack, which contains all five parts of the classic action RPG games by Sierra, you create your own character, choose his class and abilities and then set out on your grand voyage. Quest for Glory games are universally acclaimed as one of the best adventure games ever developed. After completing a part, you can import your character into the next one, keeping your skills and some special rewards you've hoarded, like magic items.

The story is another of the Quest for Glory series' strong points. It's very solid and immersive, with a light-hearted and humorous narrative that will keep you glued to the screen throughout each of the five installments.
  • Includes both: VGA and original version of Quest for Glory 1.
  • Venture across five huge worlds, each based on a different culture and mythology, from Germanic fairy tales, through Arabian and Slavic folklore, right down to Greek mythology.
  • Three starting character classes to choose from (fighter, magic user, and thief). This decision not only modifies the gameplay but also the story, providing for excellent replayability.
  • You can transfer your character from one game to the next. The skills and wealth you worked for so hard are not lost!

I loved this game years ago, but glitchy

I absolutely LOVE the Quest for Glory series that came out in the 90s. However, I can't play more than five to ten minutes of each game as it keeps crashing with no explanation. My drivers are up-to-date, my system is beyond the minimum requirements. Everything is right and I've even tried this on three different computer with crashing imminent in different places on the different machines. This is a five-star series of games when they run correctly. Sierra has never disappointed me with anything that they have ever released, but for the GOG version, I'm going to have to stick three stars unless the compatibility issues and random crashing is fixed. Also, I'm not sure why I can't distribute the skill points in smaller increments at the beginning of the game during character creation, rather than just lumping 100XP on one skill set and not dividing it up between the many different skills. I know the 100XP offered in the beginning of the game can be distributed in the original version because several LPs on YouTube clearly demonstrate this... it's just not working in this interface, which is a shame - because this game is utterly flawless in every detail (for an old nostalgic game).

A great series

This is a great series of games, though it's also very mixed. It's an adventure game with combat elements and a fair amount of humor, where you can take your character from the first game and import it into any later game (so you can do 1 to 2 to 3, etc., but it also allows you to go 1 to 5, or 2 to 5. You can import from any lower number to any higher one). Most of the music is pretty great too. The first Quest for Glory is all text-based. The text-based version I'd say is better, but somewhat counter-intuitive if you've never done it before. The VGA version is easier for new players (and the easiest class is a figher where you add points to magic and other skills you don't have). The second game is also text based. There's a VGA version of #2 that you can find free online from AGD interactive studios. It's very well done, free, and fully compatible. It's also much more polished than the VGA versions of 1 or 3. Quest for Glory 3 was the first VGA version originally produced, and so it's the clunkiest. There's some nice elements, but if you can't get through it there's no harm in exporting your character directly from QFG2 to QFG4. QFG4 is great. It was pretty buggy originally, but GoG includes all the patches which helps I think it includes a fan patch as well, though there may be more online. Save often. QFG5 is a completely different style of game. It's also the only one that's 3d. In many ways it's my favorite, but it's also a very different feel from 1-4. If you buy the series and can't get into the earlier ones I'd try going directly to 5 and seeing if that's more your style. All in all this is a great deal for not very much money.

QFG!!!

This is what I was waiting for when I joined GOG.com. This series is what has had me looking around for a while now! Now I don't have to try to find it on eBay, and I don't have to reconfigure anything to make it work, and it's all legal! Welcome home, QFG! This is where you belong.

Some of the best available

I remember buying Quest for Glory 1 (when it was still called Hero's Quest) and I was instantly hooked. A great combination of point and click adventure with an RPG element (pick your character type between warrior, mage, or thief) assign skill points to your character and carry on with your adventure. With Sierra's traditional sense of wonder, adventure and humor these are titles that should not be missed. If you enjoy a good point and click adventure including humor, fun puzzles, and combat then you'll enjoy these classics. As much as the new VGA remake of Quest for Glory 1 improved the graphics, I'm still most fond of the original, the graphics are simpler, but bring back some of my fondest game day memories. I encourage everyone to give these a try...you won't be disappointed.

Quest for Adventure Greatness

This is my favorite series. It also offers plenty of replayability in that all problems have multiple solutions and you can play as one of three classes. Later in the series one of the classes can branch into a fourth class. This series combines point-and-click adventure with RPG elements and a sense of humor. This series also includes the unique ability to import/export your character from game to game. If you're interested in this series, I recommend you also check out AGDInteractive and Heroine's Quest.
