Description
Are you feeling adventurous, Hero? The world of Gloriana, with all its wonderful diversity, awaits you. In this pack of five classic Sierra adventure games you will create your character (a warrior, thief, or magic user) and set out on a grand journey for fortune and fame! You will solve quests and puzzles, fight monsters, and save innocents.
In the Quest for Glory pack, which contains all five parts of the classic action RPG games by Sierra, you create your own character, choose his class and abilities and then set out on your grand voyage. Quest for Glory games are universally acclaimed as one of the best adventure games ever developed. After completing a part, you can import your character into the next one, keeping your skills and some special rewards you've hoarded, like magic items.
The story is another of the Quest for Glory series' strong points. It's very solid and immersive, with a light-hearted and humorous narrative that will keep you glued to the screen throughout each of the five installments.
Includes both: VGA and original version of Quest for Glory 1.
Venture across five huge worlds, each based on a different culture and mythology, from Germanic fairy tales, through Arabian and Slavic folklore, right down to Greek mythology.
Three starting character classes to choose from (fighter, magic user, and thief). This decision not only modifies the gameplay but also the story, providing for excellent replayability.
You can transfer your character from one game to the next. The skills and wealth you worked for so hard are not lost!

Good old days indeed. I played then back when the only way you can input command is with a keyboard instead of the fancy schumancy mouse with all the eye, and mouth icons. On hand hand it certainly is damn frustrating for a elementary kid who don't speak English, on the other hand it provide heck of a motivation to hit the dictionary and learn that second language. A pity I do not still have the floppy drives with my saves in them. But if you did not have a chance to play this series, by all means do it. It is a blend of adventure games and RPG with REAL multiple ways to approach a problem. Skipping out on this classics is doing yourself a disservice.
Wow, this is what I joined GOG for. I have been waiting for YEARS for this to be released.
I absolutely love these games. Even the buggy QFG IV. In fact, especially QFG IV. They are the only adventure games that I would play over and over and over just to test the world and to see what would happen.
They are hilarious, spellbinding and masterpieces of adventure gaming history. In a way, they reminded me far more of my experiences with tabletop RPGS than with Computer RPGS of the time. Instead of feeling like an overgrown spreadsheet, it was easy to get immersed with the actual characters and world of the series.
So You Want To Be A Hero? Go for it. These are some of the finest games Sierra ever produced.
This is where my love for RPGs all started. The Quest for Glory games combine the classic Sierra adventure game from the company's golden age, a basic three-class character-building system (Fighter, Magic User, Thief, and later Paladin), and action combat based on skills that are raised through repeated use (think The Elder Scrolls...before The Elder Scrolls).
As an adventure game you are asked to locate and use items to solve puzzles. As a role-playing game you are asked to kill monsters on the way to acquiring the items to solve those puzzles. As an action game you are asked to stab, slash, and dodge attacks, and run away when the battle gets to be too much. They combine for one of the most unique gaming experiences ever. Some puzzles can be solved in different ways depending on the skills possessed by your character.
The Quest for Glory games are set in a world loosely based on our own, and offer a tour of fairytales, mythology, and folklore from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. You begin as a loser wanna-be adventurer with dreams of glory and become the hero of five different lands based on the Bavarian Alps (So You Want to Be a Hero), the Middle East of 1001 Arabian Nights (Trial by Fire), sub-Saharan Africa (Wages of War), Transylvania (Shadows of Darkness), and a pre-Roman Greece (Dragonfire). You can import your hero from one game to the next, with your stats and abilities carrying over from the previous game.
By modern standards these games are short and ask very little of the player beyond having a noggin and a sense of humor, and in that latter aspect they remain relatively unique as a role-playing adventure experience. They were a big part of my own youth and were the bridge between the adventure games of my childhood and the role-playing games I came to love later in life.
In short, the Quest for Glory series is what Good Old Games is all about.
This game series is what inspired me into the IT industry. These games are the perfect for perfect for someone who wants to relive the glory days of adventure games.
Each one brings something unique to the table - QFG1 brings a clueless hero into unexpected challenges. QFG2 brings the same hero to a foreign land, in an effort to help the friend he made in the first game.
Each one is a gem, and I can't wait to revisit Erana and Erasmus.
The vain hope that this game was on GoG is what originally made me register. It boggled my mind that it wasn't here but other Sierra titles were.
The way you're able to carry your hero from title to title throughout vastly different landscapes gave it a sense of attachment as you developed your hero the way you wanted in each game. To date I don't think I've played a game that has blended RPG and adventure as well as this series.
