Not Bad
First I made quake 2 before the 1st I think the 2nd is better than this one in every way The remaster is too clean, I just find that the monsters aren't varied enough, and the same goes for the number of weapons (4, not counting duplicates). I also find the level design better in the 2nd. Not bad, but I expected better from Doom's spiritual sequel.

Cannot use GOG version on Linux
I love Quake 1 and played it competitively. The game itself deserves 5 stars. However, the GOG download is single Windows .EXE installer file which cannot be run on Ubuntu/Linux. This means that I cannot access the folder structure within the archive encapsulated within the EXE file and run the game using a Linux client. GOG should offer this game for downloading using any of the numerous multi-platform archive formats (e.g. ZIP) or the raw CD (BIN/CUE) files which can be mounted on any OS.

Enhanced not Windows 7 & 8 compatible.
The enhanced version apparently will install, run and work perfectly fine in Windows 7 & 8, however, the AddOns menu gives a non-descript error of "hmm, there was a problem when connecting to bethesda.net. please check your connection and try again." The System requirements at the bottom indicate Win10 is required, however, the " Works on: Windows (7, 8, 10, 11)" still shows 7 & 8. It is suggested that the workaround is to install a source port. Darkplaces works using the non-enhanced quake pak files. As of late 2022, you can still install the classic version of quake, however the other boiled water store has disabled downloading the old files. You are stuck there using the proprietary KEX engine version. GOG may do the same as well.

Can't edit arguments
Default resolution is fubared. GOG Galaxy won't allow me to edit arguments, as all the fields are grayed out when you try. Since resolution options need to be set by command line arguments I'm just screwed. Maybe I can set them by editing the executable itself, but I haven't tried that yet. The game is so broken even the "Quit" button on the main menu doesn't work and I have to manually kill the process in task manager, instead it just shows the developer credits. Another regretful GOG purchase over the Christmas sale. This is the second game I've bought over the Christmas sale that is just horribly broken and I still have others to get through. I wonder if any of them will work as intended. Very doubtful I will continue to purchase games on GOG or for the PC at all as they don't appear to be worth any money at all, not even a dollar. If this is the quality I should expect from GOG games then I'll find other means of acquiring them.

I thought the point of GOG was to restore these old games to their original form? What is the point in even having this here when it's the same as the crappy Steam version?
