Puzzle Agent

The writing was good. The art style is fun. For such simple renderings, the animation managed to convey a lot. It even had a few spooky moments. The puzzles were interesting, but not extremely challenging. The biggest problem is that it was way too short. Based on the map, I thought there was going to be lots of other areas to explore when the game suddenly ended. Also, some of the descriptions of the puzzle rules were confusing and were the main reason I didn't get perfect scores; not because I couldn't solve the puzzle, but because I had misunderstood the rules.

Puzzle Agent is one of those pearl that I really wanted to give a 5 star, but unfortunately I can't. First and foremost, Puzzle Agent is a.... puzzle game ( well, yeah) that plays like a point and click adventure and uses instances in the game to provide the player puzzles to solve in a separate screen. This puzzle may be Tetris kind, arithmetical or simply logic based and I personally found most of them of moderate difficulty and without too much ''nonsense'' like other puzzle game. On top of that, story is strangely engaging and with some nice ''hidden'' ( sorry) twist that really was a nice surprise, of all this accompanied by some soundtrack and visual art that is not something to be amazed at, but still does the job and helps create immersion. However, the game is short and becomes just a little repetitive after a while, and some puzzle is not too much clear on the description of its rules. Beside that, this game can be advise to all ages and all tastes, truly a little gem.

This game is so interiging, the plot is so absurd and unique and it asks a lot of questions but sadly all this building up is completely unanswered as the ending is really nothing more then sequel bait and no thank you. When I buy a game I expect a complete product not one part.

For a whimsical style game with surprisingly interesting graphic that proof to be quite versatile even after 11 years this game is excel the most in one thing that surprised me the most: The sound design. I mean, yeah, it's supposed to be a funny looking game with funny looking protagonist that supposed to be in a silly adventure, but the sound design was so good and created some scary moments that many horror games fail to create without relying on cheap jumpscare. Oh and the puzzles were (mostly) great, some can be quite challenging while some are more lightweight and gave us more time to relax between difficult puzzles. But there's one puzzle that didn't give me adequate hint and I failed the first try because I thought it was sequential and not simultaneous (the lift one). Sadly since it's been 11 years I guess it will never be fixed. Also full 5 starts because there's no slide puzzle. Bless you developer of this game.

I love point-and-click puzzle games and so I am always pn the look out for new ones. This game did not disappoint. It has a great story that is not too complex for a casual player. The puzzles are mostly not too easy, but also not so hard that it makes you frustrated. You don't need to have any prior knowledge, just some apply logic and a bit of abstract thinking. Overall very enjoyable game, which takes about 4.5-5h to finish if you are playing casually.
