This game is a more than decent piece of pinball games from every which angle. Very nice graphics, solid physics, good table design. the only draw-back of the game is the lack of tables I'd say. Despite of the two more preferred, better-designed tables, Pure Pinball lacks to offer a wider variety of pinball tables and hence better replay value. the only fault of the game in my opinion.
First impressions of the game were pretty good although if wouldn't support the full resolution of my monitor. The tables look like real tables and there are plenty of camera angles for you to choose from. Unfortunately, after that the gameplay of the tables are kind of *meh*. The music is forgettable, the sound effects are appropriate but repetitive, but the big problem is the flippers. When you hit the flippers it almost seems like it throws the ball. It's hard to explain, but the upshot is that the ball doesn't always go where it should (or would if it were a real table). This makes back shots (hitting things on the left side of the table with a ball hit from the left flipper and vice versa) incredibly easy and common, even when it shouldn't happen based on when you hit the flipper. I'd say that if you are desperate for pinball, grab this when it is on sale. Otherwise, there are much better pinball games out there.
This is a great looking pinball game - 3 tables are more than enough, and for £1.75 (Sale) a great price, too.
no widescreen support, but 1600*1200 stretched onto my 1920*1200 monitor looks great anyway, as does 1024*768 stretched onto my 1600*900 laptop.
I wouldn't play this game again.. It drags you up and down the table instead of just a view from the bottom. Its just terrible. There are elements that just don't need to be there. Like the cut scenes before the table loads with three bikini girls... I like Bikini Girls but what do they have to do with loading... why? is it just to mach me... because I am playing a virtual pinball machine instead of going somewhere and hanging out with bikini girls in some bar somewhere playing a actual pinball machine? I don't get it.... I think what I am trying to say is... this game is not worth the effort.
I quite like the Speed Dev... *cough* Excessive Speed and Steel Whe... *cough* Runaway Train tables. The feeling is nowhere near the Pro Pinball games but this is with graphics set to minimum.
