Have Gravol Handy

Ah, this reminds me of the days I played pinball in the arcade and smeared my face up against the glass following the ball all over the table moving my head right along with the ball wherever it went. Hmm, wait, I never actually played like that. In fact, NOBODY did. But for some reason, the developers think we should be playing like this and designed the camera to follow the ball all around the table. Hold on, there are 12, count em, 12 camera angles. Yep, 12 camera angles. ALL BAD. How about a normal shot of the entire table with a steady non-moving camera? Nope. It's a major shame too, because the tables are very colorful and have great graphics. Gameplay, what I could stand before I came down with major vertigo, seemed to be a lot of fun. Although, the gap between the flippers is probably the biggest I've seen in any other game. A lot of work went into this, and in my opinion, ruined by the developers probably thinking they were being inventive with the creative camera angles.

This game is wonderful....

I used to own this game on a disc, but the stupid Starforce copy protection kept crashing my computer. Its nice to see that GOG released this DRM Free. Aside from this is its realistic ball physics and colorful graphics. You can actually hear the ball roll around the table as you play. Another thing I noticed, is just like a real pinball machine, you can see the ball jump up to the glass from time to time. Id suggest reading the manual throughly , however to enjoy what it all has to offer. The game is also very forgiving on older computers with low end graphics cards as the options allow you to turn off the details should it slow down to a crawl. Overall for $5.99 its a very low price to pay for a game with such high replay value and features. (A side note to parents , this game does contain images of sexy women on the loading screen, but its not imorally wrong like the stuff you see in Lesiure Suit Larry)

Very fun pinball sim

The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because of the lack of key-remapping support, and it does not seem to load the tables (it crashes) if you try to max the screen resolution slider bar. Other than those two small flaws this is an addictively fun game that does a very good job simulating modern era pinball machines. The physics feel right, the sounds are superb, and it has some nice visual effects to give you the feel of standing in front of a real machine. With 12 different camera angles to choose from to view the table there is sure to be one to suit your style. If these were real pinball machines, I would have already spent over $6 in quarters playing these tables. For me, this was a great purchase.

2 Great Tables

The game comes with 3 tables; Speed, World War, and Train. Of those, the Speed and World War tables are my favorite. Considering how many other pinball games there are to choose from (hardly any), this would be a great choice for any pinball fans. As good as the graphics need to be for a pinball game; though I would recommend turning off the reflective glass so you can see better.

Hardcore Fun, Casual Frustration

First, the graphics and sound on this title are wonderful, right down to the player's reflection on the ball. Overall, it's a really well done pinball sim. The ball physics feel right to this casual player and the tables are entertaining despite the boring, generic names. As for my criticisms, I've spent a few hours with it but as a casual pinball player, I find the Special Mode achievements nearly impossible to decipher. Difficult shots I can understand. Difficulty comprehending what to do next is insufferable. The manual is little help because it seems as though it is referencing images of the tables that it does not actually contain (shot locations numbered and referenced). This makes it difficult to figure out the shots you need to make in order to achieve most of the special modes. Even activating the multiball function is confusing at first. To make matters worse, the high score tables are set so high that I rarely achieve any scores the game considers worthwhile, which makes me lose interest after a game or two. In the end, this is surely worth the scant money I paid for it, but I'm seriously considering one of the other titles available over this one.
