Description
Delve into people's minds as Raz, a powerful young cadet at a psychic summer camp. While working on his merit badge in levitation, Raz discovers that someone is kidnapping psychic children and stealing their brains. To foil this evil plot and earn the title of Psychonaut, Raz must project himself into the mind of one bizarre character after another to battle their nightmares and inner demons. He does all this while continuing to earn psychic merit badges in subjects such as telekinesis, clairvoyance and fire-starting.

This amazing 3D platformer adventure, full of brilliant humor, trippy setting, and surreal action, became famous for its originality and excellence of design. If you're looking for a unique gaming experience, this is a fine pick. More than just fine, as a matter of fact--double fine!
  • A brilliant story that will not let go of you until you finish the game
  • An absolutely unique atmosphere with a psychedelical level design by Tim Schafer's famous Double Fine team
  • One of the greatest titles of the platformer genre

Awesome Platformer

You know when you get those 3D platformer/action games that are awful and give 3D platformers a terrible name that they often deserve? This is the opposite. Psychonauts is a refreshing game. Literally. You play it and feel refreshed during and after because of just how good it is. For those who have played a ton of games and never find games different or interesting, this game isn't something awesomely different from other platformers, but it is so well done. Its a game that when you have got bored of all the modern games out there at the moment you will look to this game and other like it. Graphics are brilliant and are the kind that prove you don't need PS3 XBOX 360 graphics to be good in the graphics deptartment. Gameplay brilliant, a little but very very little difficulty in 3D jumps when you can't see where your jumping. But yeah, brilliant ideas, humour, jokes, gameplay and everything. And again refreshing to play a good game that you want to pick up and play not just because there is nothing else to do but because it is fun and funny. Awesome game

Funny and clever 3-D platformer

I picked this game up on a Steam sale and I'm sure glad I did. It's funny, the graphics are cute and the weirdness level is amusingly high. And for the obsessive collector in me, there's tons of different things to collect. Most of the levels are fun and can be solved with a bit of patience. But I have to say the last level really pissed me off and felt like an impossible and boring grind. I gave up. But up to that point I loved it. The themed levels were brilliant, from the Godzilla-style level to the Risk-style level to the rolling disco ball level, the game stayed true to its mechanics while adding a little twist each time to make it interesting. The story was fun, too, with great voice acting. Recommended, for sure, and maybe someday I'll finish that last level. My wife loved it too (this is the only game I think she's ever finished that I haven't!)

Platforming Nirvana

There are platformers that do single things better than Psychonauts, but I can't think of another platformer out there that does so many different thing and does them all so well. First off, the game has a really good story full of fun, vibrant, wacky characters. There are open area where you can roam freely to get to different levels. There is also plenty to do in the open areas to occupy your time. Where the game really shines though is in the levels. What's great about the game is that each level has it's own backstory and it's completely logical, in a strange, twisted, trippy way. What's more, there is an incredible variety to the level designs. You never feel like you're playing the same levels over and over because each level is so different from the last, and not just on the surface like the layout, each level almost feels like playing a completely different game. Gameplay concepts, objectives, and even mechanics get switched up quite a bit and Double Fine gets it right every time, it's thoroughly impressive. The controls are tight, the gameplay is varied, the story and characters are great, the game is plenty long with lots of extras to collect for completionists, and most importantly it's all really fun.

Tim schafer's finest work

Psychonauts is one of the most original, unique and funny games you can find here on gog. It's rare to find a game that hits the right notes throughout the whole playthrough, giving you one brilliant level after the other. It's part platformer, part adventure game, and it's a fun and quirky romp from beginning to end. It's everything that's missing in today's videogames, poking at lunacy, fun and great storytelling all while being unique every step of the way. I give it a Tim shcafer, out of 10.

It's never to late for Adventure

I don't know how could i miss this great adventure. I get it on gog for first time, and enjoy over 12 hours in one amazing story. Tim Schafer is genius. Once again he put a ordinary human feeling and behavior in fabricated, but funny characters, which make you laugh at every scene. Humor as the main starter of this game will contain a lot of strong emotions. References are amazing. So as Psychonauts, while digging into other people repressed memories and fears you will found a lot of your own brain and thinking, which is in common to us all. I hope once, there will be a second part. There must be! Otherwise there will be one big empty gap in world gaming. The games which deserve follow-up are underestimated.
