Delve into people's minds as Raz, a powerful young cadet at a psychic summer camp. While working on his merit badge in levitation, Raz discovers that someone is kidnapping psychic children and stealing their brains. To foil this evil plot and earn the title of Psychonaut, Raz must project himself into the mind of one bizarre character after another to battle their nightmares and inner demons. He does all this while continuing to earn psychic merit badges in subjects such as telekinesis, clairvoyance and fire-starting.
This amazing 3D platformer adventure, full of brilliant humor, trippy setting, and surreal action, became famous for its originality and excellence of design. If you're looking for a unique gaming experience, this is a fine pick. More than just fine, as a matter of fact--double fine!
A brilliant story that will not let go of you until you finish the game
An absolutely unique atmosphere with a psychedelical level design by Tim Schafer's famous Double Fine team
One of the greatest titles of the platformer genre
If you're a fan of the humour and style of the mid-90s LucasArts adventure games, then this game by visionary Tim Schafer will hit you perfectly.
This game is amazing, well thought out and brilliantly written and artistically directed. You are doing yourself a disservice by reading this right now instead of playing it!
One of the best platformers of all time (and one of the best GAMES of all time), Psychonauts is filled to the brim with imaginative worlds, colorful characters and cool powers. Step into the shoes of Raz and jump, float, bounce and climb your way all over the twisted inner workings of the minds of your fellow campers and councilors at Whispering Rock Physchic Summer Camp. Platforming is tight, the game offers a lot of items to track down and a lot of interesting little tidbits about your fellow campers to find out. Make no mistake, this game is a true gem. Get it.
Psychonauts is a brilliant game.
Perhaps the best thing that I can say about the game is that my wife still sometimes ASKS me "when are you going to play Psychonauts again?" because she finds the game so much fun to watch.
Great story, great writing, great voice acting, great gameplay, great visual design... it's all top-notch. The game's only real flaw, in my opinion, is the final stage of the game which has some very frustrating sequences. But this is a game that I can play over and over again.
I played this game back on the original Xbox, and probably rented it for about the full price it sells for on GOG. When I saw that it was on sale for a dollar, the decision to buy was a no-brainer.
Everything I loved about this game circa 2005 still holds up to this day. The visuals are colorful and fun, the humor is great, and the gameplay is 3D platforming at its finest. Every level is crafted with the utmost care and really sells the personalities of each character.
With Yooka-Laylee having just been released, and Psychonauts 2 on the horizon, there is no better time to get into this game.
My four-year-old daughter loves this game, too!
Have played though this game twice, once 5 years ago and then again recently.
This game is a bit nostalgic to me. It has the 3D feel of a game like Conker's Bad Fur Day and is equally funny (and smarter). You'll really root for your character Raz, as he is a perfect underdog hero. This game is incredibly smart without seeming snooty. If you are the kind of gamer who likes cult classic movies, genre fiction (like sci fi and mysteries) and unabased creativity, you'll certainly be charmed by this game. It's a real gem.
