Description
Delve into people's minds as Raz, a powerful young cadet at a psychic summer camp. While working on his merit badge in levitation, Raz discovers that someone is kidnapping psychic children and stealing their brains. To foil this evil plot and earn the title of Psychonaut, Raz must project himself into the mind of one bizarre character after another to battle their nightmares and inner demons. He does all this while continuing to earn psychic merit badges in subjects such as telekinesis, clairvoyance and fire-starting.

This amazing 3D platformer adventure, full of brilliant humor, trippy setting, and surreal action, became famous for its originality and excellence of design. If you're looking for a unique gaming experience, this is a fine pick. More than just fine, as a matter of fact--double fine!
  • A brilliant story that will not let go of you until you finish the game
  • An absolutely unique atmosphere with a psychedelical level design by Tim Schafer's famous Double Fine team
  • One of the greatest titles of the platformer genre

What a trip!

It's not perfect. In fact, its classic Double Fine: make a mechanically sound but slightly unsatisfying game around a great and outlandish concept with wonderful humour, warmth and idiosyncrasies a plenty. Is it an old school adventure game with inventories, puzzles and an emphasis on characters and plot? Is it a platformer with challenging jumps, drops and things to collect and sights to see? It's mostly both of those things, while lacking in some other aspects, but it's more than worth the sum of its parts. In short, you've seriously got to play this.

brilliant, excuse a few bugs

If you can excuse the occasional/rare game breaking bug, then there is nothing to hate in this game. Every character is fleshed out and well written. The dialogue and scenarios are funny and the mechanics are rock solid. however, yes there will be a few occasions where the game freezes, but there was only one instance where it happened during gameplay, every other time it happened during or after cutscenes. Crashing aside, the game really is a master piece.

dunno review i guess

i gotta say, enjoyed the heck out off this game. great level design and imaginative worlds makes the game very unique, and topped with very funny and well whiten dialogue, and some enjoyable but a bit repetitive gameplay, makes this one of the best 3d platformers on pc. but there are a few problems i had; 1: there were severe geometry issues, making raz fall through the floor multiple times, and even getting stuck on sliding ramps (or whatever you call them) 2: its a bit short, and very much on the easy side, you can finish it in just a few hours. and 3: a bit poorly optimized and quite a few problems with mouse and keyboard controls, thankfully, the keyboard controls can be rebinded. sadly, as of what i know you cant with the inconsistent sensitivity and jiddery movements of the mouse. other than that, full recommendation, but not a perfect 5.

3.75 Stars: Occasionally off-putting...

...because the pace seems to waffle between exploration sandbox rpg and fps/hack-and-slash psychic style. Double Fine has finally done something I need to complain about! You made the Cobweb duster required to finish the game? Really? That's just... not right. Especially when to get it I have to use the rod (see, button smashing) to afford it. So if you decide to play this one, work on affording the Duster first and foremost, even to the point of ignoring PsyCores, because you will get plenty of figments to use as rank-up material later on. Overall a lovely little jaunt through the odd bits of the human mind and all that go with it, with a few small issues that leave me wondering at the thought processes behind them... and a yearning for a PsyDoor.

Very Creative and Fun

Pros: This game is a LOT of fun. The voices and general wacky world is hilarious and there are a lot of hidden meanings in the "mental" portions of the game. You are generally free to explore and it's fun to try to figure out how to get to different places in the game. Cons: This is an obvious console port and the clunky controls on a PC detract from the experience CAMERA ANGLES, CAMERA ANGLES, CAMERA ANGLES - The brutal camera angles and control of the camera are the one truly frustrating part of this game. You often will not see where you are going or need to go because of the silly camera implementation. Overall this is a game I recommend.
