Pro Pinball Timeshock

This game was obviously designed for hardcore pinball fans which is evident from the attention to realism and detail, I am not in that category so I found it very difficult at first. They even lag the flippers a bit which I have to assume is how it is in real life. However once I got the hand of it and started getting a score above 200 million the lights started flashing a bit more, the music changed to something I hadn't heard before and the voice told me "outrageous!" and "jackpot!" as I was juggling about 5 balls at once. There is so much content on this board at first it's so overwhelming but with practise you see what scores good, what doesn't and where the sweet combos are through experience with the board. Once you're given the taste of success and high scoring you embrace all the little games and rules the board has to offer and want to explore them because it rewards you greatly for doing so. When I first got this game I was disappointed at how it looked, to me it was kind of ugly. Now all I see is the gameplay and how much fun I have on it every time and it's beaut.

I've played pinball ever since I was a little kid, and this may be the best pinball game -- real or computer simulation -- that I've ever played! Just stunning. Unlocking the customized features can be a bit tricky (search the web for how to do this, if you need to), and you may have to install the latest version of Dosbox to get it to run properly ( www.Dosbox.com ), but once you tend to these things, you'll have a truly wonderful pinball simulation that will keep you entertained for many hours! This is the best of the Pro Pinball series, with the only exception being the "original" Pro Pinball (the Web), which is not compatible with newer PCs. The graphics may be a bit limited and dated, but the table is very fun, and can be set up to run with a controller, IIRC, although many people may like the "default" settings for the game. The Pro Pinball games as a whole are very entertaining and worth owning by anyone who likes pinball. Remember, once you buy the tables, you won't be putting quarters in every game, and you will be playing many games.

I have The Great Race Pinball and Fantastic Journey Pinball. Bought them both here and had the originals as well. My concern about TimeShock Pinball is that the Windows version crashes on launch in Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit. No such issue with the other two titles. The DOS version, which is also supplied, works, but runs at a max rez of 1024 x 728. I wanted to get this because GOG says "we now have the Windows version". My rating on the game is based upon my PAST experience with it in the 1990's, and not from playing the GOG version. Unlike others in this thread, I think both The Great Race and Fantastic Journey are better pinball games than this offering. I'd have to go research, but this game has the feeling like it was the first in the series. It is not nearly as polished as the other two.

The best pinball simulation I have ever played. Still haven't gotten high points on it though.
