A privateer with a story.
Some die hard Wing Commander fans might have been disappointed but the game more than held its own. The live action videos have good acting with solid main actors including Clive Owen all portraying an entertaining story. The story being broken up by taking missions or smuggling contraband on a hired cargo ship to make money to pay for new weapons and ships. Though it all can feel rather short if you focus to much on the story and not enough on things like bulletin board missions, trading and messing around. The gameplay is solid and fun and getting new weapons and ships makes a big difference feeling rewarding but you'll never feel invincible, especially when testing your mettle against capitals ship and will still have moments where you flee for you life. It's definitely one of those games which if you played when new is very nostalgic to revisit. The biggest downside being technical problems which aren't as much of a problem as when released.

A game with lots of stuff to do
Hey there, I played this game in miy youth over and over again. It is one of the most replayable games i've ever played. U got 3 options to play through the storyline and each option has its own cutscenes. But thats not the reason for the great replayability. The game has lots of stuff to do. Actually the most fun is making money. Escortingh your own hired cargo ship to other planets to sell goods keeps the game interesting also if u don't want to play storyline. From my point of view it is definetly a game worth buying and much thanks to the GOG team to bring up this game, runable on win 7!

Wish granted!
I just received the email about "Wish granted!" for Privateer 2, as I wished for it to go on GoG for like ever. Whee! I like to see this game in league with the X series and can't count the hours anymore I spent playing it. I like the cutscenes, I like the story, I like the gameplay. Trading in game might be simple, but for its time: it was (and for me still is) a platinum embedded diamond. A milestone and one of the best games I've ever played. You might disagree, but for me that's it. Boooyeah! The Darkening on GoG! I'd hug you guys if I could! :D
