"Why invent such a fantastic story?..."

This one of the last phrases in the game and its totally true. I was fan of original PoP (at least its NES version, where you have only 1 hour to complete the game and saves to save the progress between levels), so I knew what this game should look like when I played it at the first time maybe 16-17 years ago. And it was good - and it is now, after my 2nd re-run I can say - it aged well. Good: +Soundtrack (soft oriental-like rock) fits the game perfectly + Puzzles - neither easy no difficult, balanced enough to complete the game without dying with using rewind if you are skilled enough, but most important - they never (!) frustrated me enough to quit the game. The were 2 points in the game (for 7 hours walkthrough) where I stuck for maybe 20 minutes, because I just suck at platforming (despite of completion Lara Croft - LAU series, lol) Mediocre: ¬Fights and combat system - if you haven't ever played Warrior within, you could exclude this point. Basically there are no combos in this game, several types of attacks and parries (I was literally shocked - I played Russian fully localized version before and he game hints NEVER mentioned that. It works well enough, especially in 1v1 - deathloops - absorption of enemy or freezing one gets rewind buffer to reset - so if you have no health -you will die after getting hit, no matter how many sand charges you have Bad(?): - Fixed camera angles (irritating) - you can jump in different direction, than you expected Strategy advice: ¬do not use multi-freeze for all charges - enemies are locked at 4-at-once, you will never get enough value of it (IMO much better to use basic freeze on enemies that counter your jumping over them, hit them once, wait until they fall and absorb - you spend 1 meter and return 0.5 Summary - great game that is perfect for a person who never played puzzles and platformers - but want to give it a shot. Nice story (but some moments are 14 or 16+) so I do not recommend children to play this game

Late to the party

I did never play this game when it came out in 2003. so im playing as a new player. First thing i must say that dont play this game with mouse and keyboard, get a gamepad or you will suffer. Lets start with the story: Story is great, im always curious about what happens next. it manages to keep the story interesting. graphics: well, lets say that this is 2003 game. Gameplay: It is very well refined. I suspect it's because this game was made to consoll in the first place. The one thing I can point out is the poor cameramanship. Controll: This game was not intended to play with the keyboard and mouse. the camera jumps everywhere with the mouse. With the controller, the game is a little easier even if you struggle a bit when the camera changes. Of course I could say a lot more, but I want to keep the text short and sweet. So I think the game was oki but a little difficult when you meet the soldiers.

great game, but has problems on newer pc

"Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" was considered not only a comeback for the franchise after the "Prince of Persia 3D" fiasco, but a huge breath of fresh air for the series. Starting from scratch, same characters but a whole different story, gameplay and less “Arabian nights” cinematic platformer and more mystical swashbuckling action-adventure. They even brought the original creator Jordan Mechner to help with the game's development. This game was a big deal back in 2003 as far i remember, it was everywhere, ported to all the consoles at the time, even on java phones. being mostly a platformer with Hack and slash mechanics, and of course there's the main feature that made the game well-known "The Dagger of Time" mechanic, you can reverse time if you get killed or even missed a hit to an enemy and slow-motion for enemy kills/combo. At the time this was considered groundbreaking for gaming, before rewind feature was even a thing. The game will work fine on modern pcs, but with technical issues, considered it’s an old game from 2003. the fog effects won't work properly, there's two ways to fix it use some patch that fixes the fog glitch (kind of) or turn it off in the options, another problem I have encountered is the water textures are broken, look like squares with broken texture (like a glitch) then water, it can be turned off as well, but then it's like there's nothing there and you can hear water sounds when you touch it/drink it. The widescreen patch but i can't get the hud to align properly no matter what i do. also the in-game audio is muffled from time to time for some reason. so after a while I just prefer playing it on my old 32-bit retro pc from 2009 that I thankfully kept in great condition, cleaned and preserved, and it plays much better than my main pc. no fog problems, no broken water texture and in classic 4:3 in highest resolution in-game without any patches. Im not asking much just playing it the way it should’ve been.

Great game with bad camera/controls

Pros - Very unique platforming/puzzle solving - it's what makes the Prince of Persia games Prince of Persia - Great/fun story told by decent quality cutscenes - Music/Sound effect are well done Cons - Horrible camera that you can't control - i.e. fighting a battle and suddenly only having a view of the wall - Controls can be janky - but combined with the camera makes it three times harder than it needs to be - Graphics are showing their age

It plays fine, however-

It plays fine, just as it did back in day, and it looks pleasant too. But I can't recommend this game for the simple reason that I'm hard of hearing and this game lacks subtitles. I legitimately have no idea what's going on storywise because all the audio seems to be coming from a bathtub.
