Prey is a first-person sci-fi action game from Arkane Studios, the award-winning creators of the Dishonored franchise. Known for their creative gameplay, distinctive worlds, and immersive stories, Arkane reimagines this franchise from the ground up, with an added psychological twist. Prey Digital Deluxe includes both Prey and the brand-new expansion, Prey: Mooncrash.
Prey
In Prey, you are the first human enhanced with alien powers aboard a desolate space station under assault. Improvise and innovate in order to survive as you search for answers. Prey is a bold new story set in a dangerous universe.
Prey: Mooncrash
Fight overwhelming odds to escape a secret TranStar moon base where the enemies you encounter, the hazards you face, the goals you complete, and the loot you collect are different each time you play. With changing environments as dangerous as they are dynamic, the Mooncrash campaign for Prey will offer a fun, infinitely replayable challenge to test even the most skilled players.
I'm in that phase where I'm desperately looking for a game to play next after Prey, and nothing seems to scratch that itch. I guess I have no other option but to remove all my neuromods and play Prey again. Might do this 5 or 6 times, so I'm leaving a note here just in case I lose track. Hope my eyes don't get too red.
I don't understand why this game didn't sell well. It was fun, interesting, scary, interesting again, and finally, very satisfying when my build all came together.
The graphics, the story, the world, gameplay...it all hangs together nicely.
Easily one of my favs.
This game is criminally underrated and unknown. And the title, 'Prey', probably didn't help. A better title would have been 'Psycho Shock', as this is the best spiritual successor to 'System Shock' ever made, in my opinion. And in many ways, 'Prey' is even better.
Talos-1 is the most thoughtfully designed, fully realized and utterly believable enviornments I've ever experienced in a videogame. The attention to detail is staggering. Every room tells a story, every item is placed with intention, every corpse has a discoverable backstory. The level design is inspired.
Even the mechanics of the enemies you'll face work to enhance the level design, by rewarding the player for paying attention by punishing them if they don't.
'Prey' respects the player's intelligence. It gives you tools, and options, and lets you choose or ignore them at your preference. There are dozens of solutions to any one problem you might encounter during your playthrough.
'Prey' is, in my opinion, the best immersive sim ever made.
The atmosphere and lore of the game are really solid. The gameplay is fluid and can be punishing if you want it to be (difficulty modifiers) and all in all add the creepy feeling of a walking sim with the ability of actually being able to fight back or stealth your way. Failable side quests, cool characters, etc. Don't own it on GoG but had to let people know that it's worth buying especially in GoG.
