A good RPG FPS, not an FPS RPG

Super enjoyable, really unique and will likely age well as a cult classic for a very long time. Do not expect to go guns blazing from A to B, instead, think, plan, execute, reconsider and possibly experiment. This is not your ordinary first person rpg, i would actually switch it around and the emphasis is on RPG, you have so many options of navigating and problem solving situations you gotta be creative and think to try out new things, you have more options at your disposal than your tool belt of weapons and items. This game was frustrating in a very good way, after my first playthrough i had a really good idea of how i can approach general gameplay again, there is just so much you can do in this game than other games and the options are not openly apparent to you unless given a presentation, some things which seem obvious to do i didn't realize until hours into it. The level design is spectacular, its one huge detailed spacestation with multiple ways of entering different sections of it, if you enjoy detailed environments that award exploration, environmental awareness of your surroundings and planning then this game is for you. The negatives of this game i would say are certain play styles just get shit on because of the game is, there are respawning enemies in every part of the station, so my idea of investing heavily into turrets across the station to have secure areas ended up costing me because some places just insta killed turrets when i loaded the level and enemies had respawned.

System Shock 2.5

A great spiritual successor to System Shock 2, featuring FPS/Stealth/RPG gameplay with various conventional weapons, science weapons, psionic powers, character upgrades, and of course, the wrench. Can't have a shock-game (shock-like?) without a wrench. Features an enemy that can disguise itself into various nearby objects AKA Mimic AKA comical game of prophunt in space. There is also a power that can turn yourself into objects like a Mimic can, such as a coffee mug, or whatever other random object. This is not only useful for hiding, but for sometimes getting into small spaces, such as the small openings in security office windows. The game also has a nod to System Shock 2's recycler item, which could recycle random junk into nanites, except the recycler in this game is a major element, and its how you recycle junk and other items into base materials to use them in crafting in a fabricator to make items/health/ammo/weapons/etc. There is also a recycler grenade to recycle things on the go, this is also the game's standard grenade. My main complaint is that the game could have used a few more weapons, like an SMG/Assault Rifle, Magnum, and 1 more science weapon. The weapons we DO get are good, and the GLOO Cannon is as useful as it is creative. It can put out fire, insulate electricity, make climbable platforms on floors and walls, and even freeze enemies, very useful multitool of a weapon. You'll also be happy to hear the game runs a lot better than say, Dishonored 2, or Mankind Divided, or whatever other game from around the same time where games didn't know wtf optimization was. So if you're a fan of System Shock or Bioshock, or even Deus Ex, you'll most likely enjoy this game.

Bad Name Great Game.

To think this game most likely would have been a success but no the company needed it to be named Prey and they did practically no publicity for it and chose maybe the worst year to come out seeing and there were alot of other games people would be interested in as well. Now that the rant is done. I can say without a doubt games like these need to stay relevent in the gaming industry. To be in almost full control of your actions and your choices, ingoring the games ending of course. Games now these days lack any real form of originality and excitment. Its all pay to win or pay to get more content that should of been in the game to begin with. I know kind of being a hiporcrate with the whole Prey Mooncrash dlc. But we can at least agree that it was very much unique. My only problem with the game is that the player character is slient not a real fan of that. But again with the reveal at the end of the game it makes a kind of sense. I could keep on going and saying how almost every part of the game was great and the detail here and there but all simple say go play it. If your worried about he cost the game seems to go on sale every couple of weeks. Enjoy a game where you have to think for yourself.

Great game, Boring enemies

Prey is a great expansion on the Dishonored style immersive sim. They really nailed the gameplay out of the park for this game. I absolutely recommend it to anybody who likes immersive sims or wants unique gameplay experiences. The ONLY real gripe I have is that the enemy types in this game are not satisfying to me. I enjoy killing mimics and I love them and their design but literally every other enemy becomes merely an obstacle rather than a fun combat encounter.
